Renaming threads? Possible?
I did a quick search on this but found nothing so thought i'd ask here.
Is it possible for me to rename a thread? I started a thread indicating I was having problems with a product, then it turned into a bit of an investigation into that product and counterfeit chips etc, then it became a discussion on possible repair with a new board and eventually it may turn into a resolved issue as a result of great help from both designer and builder of the product. At that stage, if we get there, i'd like the thread title to not reflect so poorly on them, ya know? It seems so far that they're being more than helpful - so if they do pull through, at that time what can i do? Ask a mod to change it for me? Or is it against the rules or something? Cheers, John |

Yes, that is the fastest way possible.
Explain why (you did in your above post) and state the new title. One mod will check if the request is legit and change accordingly. I suppose you are referring to this thread: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=93547 Give the new title as a reply and I (or someone else) will have a look. |

Yeah but i'm not really ready to change it yet. (Not sure what to change it to as you'll see below).
Once things arrive and my suspicions are confirmed (bit of a language barrier ya see), then i'd like to do it one way, and if not then another way, haha. Both more relevant to the thread though. I know that's picky, I just dont want to bother MODs with multiple changes. So i'll get back to ya when I know Cheers dude, John |

Okay guy's its time...
Lotharek sent me two gorgeous blank Furia PCB's - no trace repair for me! At this stage its all in my hands and if anything goes wrong its all on me, but those two (Boris) and (Lotharek) have been better in terms of customer service than the store I bought it from by miles. I'd like the title to reflect where the thread is going, the 'counterfeit chips' angle, and give thanks to Lotharek and Boris - but obviously a lot more concise. So I was thinking 'My Furia Project (with disc. on counterfeit chips) special thanks to Boris and Lotharek' Or is that a little long? Any other suggestions lemme know. I'm half asleep so i'm just rambing now, lol... John |

Also, it should be noted that it might be a good idea sometimes (it might or might not apply in your case) not to re-write history. Perhaps, we could just append to the thread title something like [Issues solved] and you edit your first post to add a summary of recent developments and/or links to newer posts. |

I was thinking while I was at work...
Since I want the focus to shift from all the trouble, to the transplant of parts from the old Furia to the new PCB - why don't I just make a new thread about that? Then the old thread could be renamed something like you suggest... 'Furia Woes/Counterfeit Chips [Resolved tnx to Lotharek and Boris]' Or whatever? Then i'll just start my new 'My Furia Transplant Project' or whatever when i've progressed enough to make it worthwhile. (ie when I have progress pics worth posting) What ya think? John |

This can be OK too.
Don't start making 100 threads on a similar topic... but as long as it is only two separate threads it won't be an issue. |

Yeah it'd be like a thread split from all the negative investigatory crap to a simple construction thread, more positive, ya know?
I just feel like that thread would have two different topics in it if I carried on with it. I mean after the title change feel free to close the old thread, ya know? Last edited by project23; 28 October 2018 at 15:56. |

Thread name change done.
If I close the thread, it will prevent you from editing your first post to link to the new thread or whatever. Unless the thread gets off-topic or inflammatory I don't believe closing it is needed. |

Ah okay dude,
I was just saying that incase you were worried about me bumping two threads all the time. I'll edit the first post like I say and maybe the last one to link to the new thread when its ready, but thats it. Cheers again! John |
