HELP - PFS gone!!!

Oh buggery.

I had PFS installed on my DH1: partition, and its gone...

Disksalve can see the files, but not recover them
DH0: / AmigaDOS cannot see them at all
Can't find any reference to *any* PFS devices/drivers on DH0:

And my PFS3 disk is AWOL... it aint here, it *might* be in Kendal.. it might have been lost in the move.

Does anyone know where I can buy PFS? I know there was a place (in Reading, UK?) that sold it about 6 uears ago... but cant remember the name.

Where should I be looking for PFS devices (libs and devs, from dim memory)

I'm not sure of this is allowed, as PFS was commercial - but could someone email me the necessary drivers so I can recover my data? I know it means eff-all, but I do have a scrambled DH1, and without having had PFS in the first place...

:-(

Found it at this store www.mrhardwarecomputers.com under software.
Email them first and see if they still are in business and have it in stock.

DiskSalv 4 is said to be able to handle AFS. I tried it with PFS but it only shows the directories, no files.

There is PFSSalv on Aminet, though.

There are no devices/drivers for PFS. PFS3 itself is stored in L: and some utilities are stored in sys:tools/pfs3. Both are not needed to actually run PFS. PFS is installed into the RDB with HDToolbox.

Try sys:tools/pfs3/PFSDoctor to repair any PFS3 disk.

Guys

Thanks

PFS isn't listed as a file system in the RDB. That might be the problem. There are *no* PFS files/directories anywhere on DH0: (L: or anywhere else)

Awaiting a response from that Amiga delear.

Cheers all

I had this too once, whole system partition disappeared! And it was an officially bought version, seems the RDB was overwritten due to a PFS bug
It was a fatal blow to my Amiga enthousiasm, my A4000 was finetuned over the years and was perfect, beautiful (magicwb), powerful (tons of tools), and then all gone
had to restart from scratch but never found enough courage to do it, so back to basic 3.1 grey interface without too much tools, just basic stuff... and so I moved on to Windoze...

I know, backup would have been cool, but next to this I never lost anything cause it never crashed

If you still need PFS3 I still got the orginal CD here on my desk, PM me

Start backing up your windows installation at least..

There's nothing worse than not learning from your mistakes.

/me pats his DLT drive and Adaptec USB2Xhange USB -> SCSI-adapter. (easy to backup my laptops too :-)

Looks at the rack of 4 x DLT RAIT drives, the DLT on the PC, the spare DLT... the DAT that was /meant/ to go into the 4000, and the Tandberg 150mb that sits in the A2000.... streamers, streamers everywhere, and not a backup in sight!

Dont suppose you would happen to know the filetype value for PFS would you? RDB has got three different values in it! All the same 'cept the end
301
303
305

IIRC 301 is DH0 which (fortunately) was formatted with FFS
