A 500+ batery
My batery in the A 500+ was in high need to go. Leaking like a madman
I removed it Now can the Amiga run whit out it? There is a 512k Ram card in it. And on it it says to a chip "clock". And there is a batery on it |

He could run without the battery but he needs this battery to keep the clock settings.
As far as I know. |

It will run fine without it, but as BenniP said won't keep time after a power off. Certainly wouldn't have run much longer with it!
Not sure if the expansion card will keep time or if there is a way to use its onboard clock with the A500+. I know there is a couple of threads about replacing the A500+ battery with a lithium button cell. Do a search. Last edited by Bloodwych; 31 July 2004 at 14:50. |

If there's a battery on the mem expansion, then it should keep the clock going for the mem card, but the A500+ doesn't check the card for a clock....
If you know the address for the clock on the card you could read it directly into the system clock with a small patch on bootup... but you might need to set it as well! Probably easier to nick the battery off the card and stick it on the A500+ mobo |
