Pin 1 (Carrier Detect) on Null Modem Cable

With my current setup my null modem cable no longer reaches the 2000. I was looking for a longer one on ebay when I discovered that none of them seem to have pin 1 connected to anything, is this a concern?

I think for a null-modem cable it probably isn't a problem. The only time I know of that a program would want to look at the carrier detect is when connected to a modem, which usually requires a straight cable instead of a null-modem cable. Going from computer to computer it shouldn't be needed.

The Amiga Explorer null-modem cables use the Data Carrier Detect signal (DB9 Pin 1, DB25 Pin 8), though admittedly it's doubled up with the Data Set Ready signal (DB9 Pin 6, DB26, Pin 6).

I (also) think it depends on software whether you need it. most of time simple 3-wire cable is enough (but more is desirable, ofc).
