Connect A500 to nonRGB scart?

Hi, I want to connect my amiga 500 to a non-RGB scart. Do I need some kind of convertor for it? I already have a scandoubler to connect it to a VGA monitor but thats not what I need. Connecting it to an AV scart gives problems (only sound, no video). It would be best to put something inbetween so that I can use the AV scart.

You need an A520, three phono cables (Stereo sound + Composite video), and a SCART dongle

At €25 they are a bit expensive from Amiga Kit, but it's your money

The A520's are virtually indestructable and it WILL work on a non RGB SCART (with the cables and SCART dongle).

Does your TV only have one SCART socket?

I've never come across a TV manufactured in the last 10 years which didnt have at least 1 RGB compatible SCART socket.

Most Amiga SCART problems arise from incorrectly wired Amiga RGB cables rather than non RGB capable SCART sockets

The makers of the cables usually screw up the wiring to the FAST BLANKING (pin 16) on the SCART cable. This pin activates RGB mode on your TV.

omg!! Thats interesting information you're posting.. I have to check my cables. I've got about 3 of them, but I always thought it was the scart port of the TV
Anyway, I already ordered the unit so I also might be able to connect it to the video-in of my PC and other neat stuff

It may still be your TV but in order for an Amiga RGB cable to work there has to be between 1v and 3v on pin 16.

http://www.proav.de/index.html?http&...rt-pinout.html

Pin 18 also has to be wired to ground.

Sigh, Nostalgia moment. I discovered this info in about 1990 when I bought my cable from a shop in Preston, Lancashire, UK. It was a little back street electronics shop down Cannon Street. I am sure it isnt there anymore, dunno what it was called.

They were always making Amiga cables and didnt work.

I doubt anyone will know where I mean
