CD32 pad extension cable ?

I've tried to use cable extension 1.8m with my cd32 pads but with the extension, they are recognized with only 2 buttons.
The extension cable has all the pins connected so i don't understand why it doesn't work
Of course if i plug the pad directly it's recognized as CD32 pad
Is the extension too resistive and then the chip is not powered?
What is the max cable length for a CD32 pad ?
Tested with 2 extension cables and 2 different pads and it's the same

If 2 buttons can be read it means that the pins are OK since other buttons are read serially using CIAAPRA. The length could disrupt the serial readings? possible.

I've just found in my stock of pads a quite unused Competion Pro and with the same cable extension, it works.
So definitely the 2 others are used. I think i will solder new cables on them to see if it's better or if the problem is on the pads PCB (caps ?)

I had an original pad where only the red button worked...
Another one: all buttons work except shoulder buttons...
Plus the original pads suck, the directions rotate, diagonals are horribly hard to perform...

KTRLCD32 forever!

Personally i really like the original pad. I know it has a bad reputation. The main problem as you said is that the direction rotate because the 4 pin that hold the cross in place are always broken.
I've found a solution that works really great. I breaked all the pins of the cross and then i glued the cross directly on the spring pad and it does move anymore. It works since 20 years !

I don't play with the competion pro because i don't like the genesis pad.
Perhaps i will try the KTRLCD32 , as it has a SNES pad shape, if i can't fix my controllers

It's ALIIIIIVE !!!

Changing the cables on the two joypads fix the problem. They were used, I played to much with them.

And it will work twenty more years hopefully !!!
