I don't understand how it could remind you of Ikaruga.
It actually looks more like Silpheed: The Lost Planet, which was absolute ARSE. And that's got to be the big prize for "worst use of the second screen", ever. The concept behind it surely was "hey we need to fill this fucking screen, put some useless gfx in it". They could have put pr0n in it and make it entertaining. |

After following your link I'm very impressed....nice shooter.
Sold me on a DS for this game alone. At least using the 2nd screen for weapon selection/score etc stops the (already) tiny screen from becoming too cluttered. thanx for the info. |

Following the link I notice it's been done by Shin'en (long life Abyss ), so this is just a sort of follow up to Iridion...
In any case, a 2.5D shooter that looks quite decent at least, but seems like it has too few shit going on on screen to make it enjoyable. Sorry, I'm all sold for manic shooters already. |

I had already seen this before in the shmups.com forum... some weeks ago actually
The game looks like Raystorm.. even the "amount of stuff on screen".. it may be good. What's funny is that the 1st time I saw screenshots of this game, it was that selection of thumbnails in the official page. I just thought "Why the heck did they take so many boring screenshots of those panels?" Just when I opened one screenshot, that it hit me that it was the 2nd screen! |

You know: one button for [fire primary weapon], second for [fire secondary weapon] and even third for [fire ultra destructive bomb thingy] Imagine doing that, with the "pen" on Your good old DS |

GBA didn't have that many shmups & the ones it did, weren't that good.
Iridion I & II were just ok imho. It had some PD shmups too. |

Ofcourse I always keep an eye on all regions. However I hope that Nintendo may start releasing the more interesting foreign titles outside Japan especially as they launched the DS in the USA first , I see no reason, for example, why the 'Band Brothers' game can't be easily and quickly translated. I just don't want to be playing half a game because I cannot speak Japanese.

Well, the markets are very different and usually jap games don't get transported onto the US. Some games are unplayable in japanse but others are not.

I know what you mean, Wario Ware is pretty much fully playable in Japanese, but any Japanese RPG is going to be pretty hard to play. We shall see.

I agree! The grass always seems sunnier on the other side
The best of everything would do me, I don't care where it comes from. |
