Does exist a Windows tool to analyze D64 disk images ?

In other words, something like ADF-Workshop, but for the C64

Thanks for suggest, but i would like a "specific" tool, not a general file manager which is able to look inside D64

Is that normal that it crashes a lot of times ?

Am i missing to configure some settings perhaps ?

No, it's not normal. Try the latest 3.2 before it got the experimental GTK3.No need for a 64bit version, 32bit is just fine.

For general info: Some games/demos with custom loaders aren't compatible with the virtual floppy option in Vice, you have to enable True Drive Emulation.

GTK3 version has come a looong way since the slow and bugged pokefinder releases.
Latest 64-bit SVN compiles is in my user upload folder.

Hmm, I have no love for GTK3 on Windows. IMHO applications should always strive to use the target OS's native UI.

I do understand why they did it, but it has honestly made VICE less attractive to me going forward.

Because they want to maintain one GUI only for all platforms. And they selected the worst that you could image. Sadly. I have high hopes for Denise though, which is already a great new C64 (and later Amiga) emulator.

edit: btw: Even the current GTK3 doesn't scroll smooth (looks like 15 frames despite the fact that the internal emulator show solid 50fps). It's a mess. After such a long time they don't get it right.

VICE devs did ask for maintainers for WinVICE, nobody stepped forward though.

Then again, SDL/SDL2 versions have that authentic C64 look, I quite like that.

True. Nobody wanted to do it. The WinVice GUI with all the renderer, input devices stuff etc was highly outdated. But GTK3 doesn't make it better i'm afraid. Even if it scrolls smooth some day.

I miss shader support, WASAPI audio, custom button mapping, integer scaling etc. The Vice team always was a Linux bunch anyway. So, no surprise here.

Not sure, what are those different version of vice emulator? Just compiled with different tools??

I see that nightly build has some cool features, but haven't been able to test any games with it.

Reason I disliked all versions since 2.4 on winvice is that all of sudden requires way too much resources to run - on my old mini laptop it did not run well at all.

I jumped ship from Vice a few years ago, couldn't get smooth 50hz scrolling in full screen without the sound grating.. These days I stick to Hoxs64, seems very solid and highly compatible, doesn't have much latency either using the Line-Sync option. Really like the filters on the older vice though..

For some stuff I am using RetroArch (windows and RPi), and I am testing Batocera as well.

On laptop I am using RetroArch, C64 games are started from LaunchBox. I have option to add different emulators, but never got time to play with them.

Yeah, RetroArch is really quite nice. Had a few issues getting c64 stuff to work, keyboard set-up I think.. For consoles it's great, had issues with Atari ST too. Choice paralysis doesn't help either.
