Strange game extras and promo items
Reading a few of the nostalgia threads has reminded me of what must be the strangest items to be included in a game box. When Last Ninja 2 was released for the C64 there was a limited edition that had a ninja hood and rubber throwing star in the box. I had mine in a cupboard until about 96, but threw them away during a much needed clear out.
Did anyone else find something strange and useless lurking in a game purchase? |

There was apparently something "strange and useless" lurking in the Rise of the Robots box... it was a bunch of disks that allegedly contained a game of some sort, but curiously, upon loading them up, there was no game to be found...

Not very strange but some games came with stickers (like Zool, came with stickers and a poster).
Loom came with an audio drama CD, haven't seen any other games include that. The strangest thing I've gotten with a game has to be (this is not an Amiga game though) the stuff that came with Leisure Suit Larry 7. That game came with scratch-and-sniff cards (the various smells were numbered and the numbers would blink on-screen in the game to tell you which one to scratch to get the smell from that particular location). |

Lol, I was expecting a reply like this, but wasn't sure which turkey would be named. Surely Ghostbusters 2 is the best example. Most reviewers thought they had been sent an unfinished demo.

Staying on topic. Chaos Strikes Back came with a solid metal 'GOR' coin in the box which was quite an unusual item to be included with a game: http://dmweb.free.fr/files/CSB-Scan-GorCoin.jpg Last edited by Steve; 01 October 2007 at 01:50. |

Infocom games always came with strange stuff. Strangest was probably 'hitchikers guide to the galaxy' which had a piece of fluff...
