Relokick older games

Hi Guys, I'm new here sorry if it's in the wrong section.

I retrieved my very dirty Amiga 500+ from the loft, (been through a roof collapse/repair) I dismantled it carefully cleaned the fdd with cotton buds and washed the yellowed case, I found a guide on removing the yellowing using b-blonde peroxide cling film and sun. it worked quite well apart from a few white blooms not really noticeable though. I was happy when it booted first time, I bought a rgb to scart cable and tried a few games.

I have a couple of questions though, some games don't work and after reading a few forums, I am assuming because it's it's a 500+ and the games are not compatible, I tried them in the winuae emulator with the same results (not working) most of the games work if I change the config to A500 with a lower kickstart, so a bit more reading and I came across relokick I tried it in winuae with a 500+ and it worked fine and the said games worked exolon, nebulus to name a few.

Now my problem is I transferred relokick to the amiga using amiga explorer and wrote it back to a real disc, but it doesn't work, I can view the read me but if I try to run relokick it crashes.

is it possible that it's being corrupted when I transfer it to disc? most games I transfer work so I'm assuming it's something else I am using relokick 1.4, any advice would be appreciated, it seems to be most of my fav games that require an older kickstart.

Also something else I noticed when cleaning it, in my sound filter section one of the diodes has been lifted at one end and soldered to a different point is that normal for these machines I can take a pic when I get a min.

Thanks,
Chris.

relokick is basically for the Amiga 1200, surely will not work in the A500+
you must use another kickswitch program like skick

Relokick is very much for the A500+

Also, take out the battery. If it hasn't leaked yet, it will tomorrow.

I always found Relokick 1.3 to be the best one for the A500+ for some reason.

I have tried searching for relokick 1.3 but can't seem to find it, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Regards,
Chris.

Battery Leakage

Is the battery needed for anything? I assume it's just to keep the date and time, as I only want to use the Amiga for games can it be removed for good? I could replace it and clean up the very slight corrosion if needed.

Regards,
Chris.

I will give that a try, but what is this lha file business, I am a complete beginner, the extent of my Amiga use was insert a game and play, if it's not a real disc or an adf I haven't the first clue how to run it.

Chris.

Am I just using the wrong version of relokick? or is there some reason it's not booting properly? I've been trying to use version 1.4, it does indeed work in winuae with it configured as a 500+ just won't work in the real machine :-( Help!

Regards,
Chris.

Chris-F, don't listen to what Sandro says, it's a load of shit.
skick won't work in your setup with only 1MB RAM because it uses proper KS images. Relokick uses a cut-down kickstart image that would fit better in a 1MB Amiga.

Relokick 1.4 will work fine on an A500+ as much as it does on an A600. I used it plenty in my A600 back in the day .

You need to discard the possibility of transfer or write corruption, after that, you don't say much about the problem but "doesn't work". Doesn't work how? Black screen? Doesn't "degrade"? Please be a little bit more specific.

When it's telling "kicking up" remove the relokick floppy.

Yes, I tried this in winuae and it works fine but it doesn't get that far on the real amiga, I will try again later and will see exactly what it does, I think it was just flashing the power and disc light and then just hanging.

Chris.

That's about it only of use in Workbench really for timestamps on files and displaying the time. Amigas function perfectly fine without one.

I checked last night, I am actually using relokick v1.41, I put the disc in and get the GEESUS logo, left click and it loads the intro, if I right click I get the read me that works fine, but when I left click to run relokick I get the message "Software Faliure Kick141, program failure (error #80000003) wait for disc activity to finish, suspend or reboot".

Chris.
