Could FPGA be used for 486 expansion card?
Here's a crazy question: in theory, could one make a new modern A1200 accelerator card that also houses intel 486 compatibility?
The thought came into my mind when I saw there's 286 expansion cards for e.g. the A2000, That Jan Beta showed on his channel. |

Theoretically ... sure.
But it would be probably easier to do so on a RasPi based accelerator like the PiStorm or on a coprocessor like the A314 or the ZZ9000. Here is a PC emulator for the PI: http://rpix86.patrickaalto.com (486@20MHz) And here a baremetal approach (what we would need): https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=70018 |
