I need to work on getting the performance better, but the MIDI music sounds amazing coming through my Roland SC 88 Pro.

Yeah, I need to move over some of the ScummVM data and give that a try!
Question about Exult, seems while I can get MIDI music working, the speech during the intro isn't playing. Something I'm missing? It only needs just a tad more speed to be normal for the intro to play smooth, once I get the sound bits figured out I'll start playing it more. |

[ Show youtube player ] There are also some options in Exult to look at, you can play around with the option for enabling digital sounds in the sound options dialog....even OGG playback is supported if you really want to slow your 060 down |

Two tricks did it. 1) like in your video, sync up the frequency in AHI. 2) turn the volume nob down on the Roland SC-88 Pro. The music was drowning out the audio! Now I can play Ultima 7 on my Amiga 500! Thanks for the awesome port! Ha, sadly it's still too slow on my A4000. Would probably need to get a PPC port for that to work, and from my understanding the port is out there, but doesn't support CAMD. |

Maybe the Ultima7 music could somehow be converted to module format ?! To support users who want the music option, but do not have any Midi equipment, or the machine used is too slow to properly play Ogg vorbis .. ?!

@NovaCoder
I think I do something wrong - testcase is the last Exult RTG Version from the Aminet and a MT32. In the Exult setup I choosed CAMD and MT32 - and Exult notices the MT32 (Exult on the screen) but the sound comes from my soundcard and not from the MT32. (double checked) I've switched between the settings but always with the same result - no sound directly from the MT32 - any ideas. Thank you |

That's very strange, seems to work okay for me using WinUAE but I don't have a real MIDI device hooked up to my virtual Amiga to test with these days.
These are my settings, are they the same as yours? Music should not be coming from your sound card if you disable digital music BUT you will still hear digital SFX. Last edited by NovaCoder; 24 April 2021 at 14:27. |

Yeah it is out there and it supports Timidity music, which kind of works. Better to use OGG audio tracks for the music. It doesn't support CAMD however.

I found a fix for my problem - in the config file I switched midi off and after that I switched in the Audiosettings of Exult Midi (camd) and MT32 on and now it works. Music comes from the MT32 and Speech from the MelodyPro. Thanks for the port.

Just a quick question Nova.
I have the GOG release of this which contains the following:
On my Amiga .HDF I extracted Exult_RTG, then I extracted the above two directories to the root of "Exult". I get the following error when launching: I did quickly read through the mountains of information in all the Readme's, but no mention of exactly where the data needs to go. Can you please advise? |

Ok, after looking at the "EXULT_LOG.TXT" file I see this:
Surely I don't need to somehow split this up considering i have "Ultima VII - The Black Gate + The Forge of Virtue" and "Ultima VII - Serpent Isle"? |

Hmmm, I also keep getting the following even though I've set a RTG screenmode of "UAE: 640x 480 8bit":

Not sure, haven't run it myself for ages. Try editing the configuration file manually, see if it's trying to open in full screen or windowed mode. You could also try reducing the resolution it's using in the configuration file.

Besides the above error, I have the games setup / configured perfectly and it does do 640 x 480. That's why I'm puzzled about the error messages. Also, tried the AGA version and it says 640 x 480 8 bit depth is all good in the log. |

What is your Workbench resolution BTW?
If you are running Workbench at 640x480 then you will not be able to open a 640x480 window because that's just the internal display area of the window and windows are always bigger than their internal display area. You need to be running in at least 800x600 to open a 640x480 window. Just update the Exult.cfg file and change your display mode to full screen and that should fix it for you |
