Amiexpress /X and Fidonet

I am trying to get Fidonet operational on Amiexpress running Winuae.
I have a few questions, since this is my first time setting up Fidonet.

As far as the mailer is concerned, I can use anything such as binkd on the amiga or pc side to download the echomail.

How can this then be processed and accessed through Amiexpress?
The only thing I have found so far is this:

I am having a difficult time getting this door to work properly and it looks like it has so many pieces to it, including a key file. I was hoping to simplify things using modern apps.

I realize this is an old thread but did you ever get this working properly? I am running an Excelsior! BBS and was wondering if it is possible to get fidonet and amiganet working with it thru the internet? I used to run it via phone line but no longer have a land line.
Any help would be appreciated.

The newer version of /X Amiexpress does have some type of new Fido style support.

Not yet it doesn't. There will be support for QWK and FTN networking in the next release. For FTN networking you will need to set up amibinkd or similar and the FTN processor will handle picking up incoming messages and pushing them into the /X msgbases and taking new /X messages and sending them out to the message network.
