You can't (not without a lot of hassle) PC floppies are not compatible with the amiga floppy format, most ADF images are of 880k floppies, some old PC drives can be modified to work on amiga's but they stop working on PC's

The easiest way is to dump them on a cd, bung it in an amiga and copy them to floppy there

you must have an amiga or know someone who has or you wouldn't want them on floppy, so all you need is a cdrom drive connected to it and one of many software utils on aminet to write the floppies...

i use a null-modem serial cable between the amiga and the PC.
Then i use this disk : http://amigadump.emu-france.com/fichier.php?id=115 on the amiga.

This disk can read 720Kb PC disks, and send/receive ADFs through the serial link (Amiga floppy to ADF on PC, and ADF on PC to Amiga floppy).

If you want to use this method, and really have no workbench floppy, you'll have to find someone near you who can send you this disk (in order to have the less postal charges).

Well if he could get a program which could transfer directly and write to disk there are a couple of games which boot into a sort of workbench when booting from them. Games such as Sim city and many others.

Problem would be the lack of a way to actually transfer the program to the Amiga to use it there.

Hammy : definitly not. The PC can't write an amiga floppy.
The program Disk2FDI can force the PC to read an amiga disk an make an ADF, but can't write an ADF to an amiga disk.
Just copying the adf on a floppy isn't enough, because the ADF contains "control areas" which indicate the ADF is an amiga floppy.
You 'll need an amiga program, like transwarp, transdisk, ADF2disk... to write the ADF on a real amiga disk.
Transwarp is on the "ADFDump" disk i gave you the link above.

Drake & Hammy : only a disk that has a minimal workbench, with CLI and serial.library, a null modem serial cable, and a software, like "ADF Sender Terminal" are needed.
Then, follow instructions here : http://homepage.uibk.ac.at/homepage/...l/methods.html

After these instructions, ADFDump can be transfered, and making ADFs from Amiga disks, and making Amiga disks from ADFs will be easier.

But, as i remember, Hammy has no amiga disk at all...

you can buy a serial cable in any computer shop.
i think they're always too expensive.

You build it yourself, just follows the instructions :
http://www.technick.net/public/code/...08e49a9f317b76

If the link doesn't work, go to www.technick.net, click on "pinouts", then on "cables". You'll be able to choose you null-modem cable to build.

yes.

No need in a special cable.
Just remember the serial cable used to connect Amiga <-> PC is null-modem . Don't use a modem cable : they're not the same.

Yes, as well as the Null Modem (Serial) cable you will also have to buy a little 25pin->9pin converter plug that plugs into your PC's COM port and then you can plug the cable into that. For transfering to my Amiga I use a 25 pin female Null Modem cable and a small adapter which connects the other end of the cable into my PC's 9 pin COM port. The adapter only costs about 3 or 4 pounds so it's not expensive.

STOP THE PRESS!

I've found you don't actually need that adapter. For £5.99 you can buy a 25pin female to 9pin female Null Modem cable from Maplin.

No M8, I'll stick the WB disks¹ in the post after the bank holiday, the post office is shut till then anyway

¹yes I mean disks, all mine are ancient, so I'm sending 3 copies, hopefully between them you can get 1 working one...

PS. you also have my permission to seriously damage whoever sold/gave you an Amiga without a workbench disk...
