Ambermoon is probably the most user friendly game ever made. I don't understand why are you people so lazy. Just download it here http://hobring.esero.net/games.htm and you have all the comfort of WHD version...

There are also 2 different 040/060 patches on aminet Do I need them as well if I want the game to work on my A1200 Tower with a Blizzard 040 card? or am I better off just installing the game on my ECS 68k Minimig with 2MB chip and 1.5MB slow ram. Thanks for the help, I have wanted to play Ambermoon for a number of years but so far I have been put off by the need to work round issues rather than having a pack such as the ones normally offered by whdload to work round any issues. |

My patch allows finishing the game on my A1200/030 ; I did it several times.
So I guess it's fine this way. |

There are no need for any patches to finish English v1.07. I did it myself before I ever released it to the world. Ok so patches are required to make all areas accessible but those areas are not needed to finish the game.

A new player certainly does not want to crash at some parts, even if they can be avoided. |

Btw... I suppose someone there have noticed the recent update in the Amberworlds site:
http://amberworld.sourceforge.net/ambrwrld.htm ;-) - If I were a (680x0 expert) coder, I'd be in this project, too... |

Last I heard of this game the English version had issues that would cause problems that meant you could not finish the game without messing with files
things, like moving files from the working german version etc to get you past certain points in the game. Has the English version over the years ever been fixed to solve these issues and if so where I can get a working disk version and/or a WHDload version ? |

You can play the game to the end without messing with any files there are one or two places the game crashes but they are all side quests and not needed to finish the game. The Meynaf patch brings together lots of fixes discovered by lots of people for the main crashes and a few textual errors. It doesn't fix them all but quite a lot. The WHDload patch isn't needed. The original HD installer plus the Meynaf patch is all you need

And next, there are some patching i did myself that are needed to get the game parts. One of them is oblitered due to an error, that makes you miss a big chunk of the story. |

It depends what version was used, if not this patched by Meynaf then no.
Better listen what Meynaf said and get normal (not WHDLoad) version with Meynaf patch. WHDLoad version of this game is without sense. Edit: Don't get me wrong, i'm for WHDLoad overall. But there are some games which are better in standard version and Ambermoon is one of them. Last edited by Solo Kazuki; 15 May 2020 at 11:18. |
