Ambermoon is probably the most user friendly game ever made. I don't understand why are you people so lazy. Just download it here http://hobring.esero.net/games.htm and you have all the comfort of WHD version...

@Wolfus
Silly question but how does that help fix any of the bugs that need to be patched to make the English version completable?

And wont help at all running it on an Amiga :-)

If what you want is just having english (1.07) version that can be finished, patches already exist for that. Just replace original files by these found here :

Thanks I was sure I needed a pack to make the game finish-able does this one fix all the known crashes with the 1.07?

There are also 2 different 040/060 patches on aminet Do I need them as well if I want the game to work on my A1200 Tower with a Blizzard 040 card? or am I better off just installing the game on my ECS 68k Minimig with 2MB chip and 1.5MB slow ram.

Thanks for the help, I have wanted to play Ambermoon for a number of years but so far I have been put off by the need to work round issues rather than having a pack such as the ones normally offered by whdload to work round any issues.

My patch allows finishing the game on my A1200/030 ; I did it several times.
So I guess it's fine this way.

There are no need for any patches to finish English v1.07. I did it myself before I ever released it to the world. Ok so patches are required to make all areas accessible but those areas are not needed to finish the game.

Of course, but you knew the game in advance and all the tricks that are necessary to get past problematic areas.

A new player certainly does not want to crash at some parts, even if they can be avoided.

Btw... I suppose someone there have noticed the recent update in the Amberworlds site:
http://amberworld.sourceforge.net/ambrwrld.htm ;-)

- If I were a (680x0 expert) coder, I'd be in this project, too...

Question

Last I heard of this game the English version had issues that would cause problems that meant you could not finish the game without messing with files
things, like moving files from the working german version etc to get you past certain points in the game.

Has the English version over the years ever been fixed to solve these issues and if so where I can get a working disk version and/or a WHDload version ?

You can play the game to the end without messing with any files there are one or two places the game crashes but they are all side quests and not needed to finish the game. The Meynaf patch brings together lots of fixes discovered by lots of people for the main crashes and a few textual errors. It doesn't fix them all but quite a lot. The WHDload patch isn't needed. The original HD installer plus the Meynaf patch is all you need

For having what, a quit option ? It's already there. There is nothing whdload would bring, apart using more memory and/or messing the display while doing file i/o.

this game still needs a lot of fixing, some spells are not working correctly and make the amiga crash.

And next, there are some patching i did myself that are needed to get the game parts. One of them is oblitered due to an error, that makes you miss a big chunk of the story.

This has nothing to do with whdload. The game can be patched directly, and already has for a lot of things - including unavailable game part.

It depends what version was used, if not this patched by Meynaf then no.

Better listen what Meynaf said and get normal (not WHDLoad) version with Meynaf patch. WHDLoad version of this game is without sense.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, i'm for WHDLoad overall. But there are some games which are better in standard version and Ambermoon is one of them.
