cud i start a list of 'cycle exact' needing games please

hi all,

any chance peeps cud add here what games deffo need 'cycle exact' ticked in the chipset options.

i ask this cos latest winuae (which has some great new features) seems to need much more pc grunt to run games with the CE option, wheras the 1.2 winuae i was using ran ALL my games with CE no probs on my atom powered netbook,

so i need to cherry pick which games i run on the netbook

to start the ball rolling im gonna try pinball illusions 2nite and post my results (old threads say the multi ball feature needs CE cos the game switches to hires during multiball)

cheers

If you want but I won't "support" it because it will get obsolete after each winuae update.. so good luck in testing all games again and again

fair enough.

does that mean that subsequent winuaes lower the demand for pc power to run the CE option ? or do games that need CE in an old winuae not need CE in a later winuae ?

i dont wanna seem thick and labour the point, but i can not suss this out.wud luv to learn a wee bit about this.

cheers

Generally more compatiblity = more CPU power needed.

In future version(s) some games may suddenly work without CE, some may stop working without CE. Non-CE mode is only an approximation, even single clock cycle difference can break or fix some games..

This indeed happened in the past several times, yes. That meant that Toni simply found some handy tweaks which made the use of CE superfluous ... AND ... thus didn't suck the last possible bit out of a weaker PC.

(Spindizzy Worlds comes to mind ... or one of the CJ series IIRC)
