Yes, no need to change filesystems in order to go over 4GB.

although it would be fair to say

1. SFS would be faster (as would PSF2/3) than FFS
2. You cannot use FFS tools like ReOrg or DiskSalv
3. Drive can suffer the Validation issues of FFS -

(validation errors on 4GB is pretty horrendus - but on somthing like 8GB is not a good experience!!! imagining a larger partition than that .... hell thats gonna take like a week to validate!

If you are running OS3.9 I can only suggest that you change your booting from FFS to SFS, its better in all respects that I have found.

Currently my A4000 is running CWOS3.9 - this is housed on a CyberSCSI 2 with an U2Wide 18.1GB SCSI HDD thats been partitioned and formatted for SFS.

Raw Speed Controller Performace - test (RSCP) designed by Russel Miranda - benched my system at 4MB per second 86% CPU idle running from "cybrscsi.device" and surprisingly 2.7MB from Native IDE "scsi.device" although the CPU was hammered with under 40% idle.

I will say that RSCP is an old program so it doesn't take into account newer CPU's or cache on Harddrives.
