Buddha Flash Phoenix & CF
I've read it's not recommended to power 2.5" hard disks via the 44 pin connector. What about compact flash cards? Do they also need to be powered using the floppy power connector?

Hi hese,
I don't know where you heard that advice, but it sounds a bit like extreme caution to me. No separate connection to the supply is necessary with a 44-pin IDE interface. It's possible that you are confusing the 44-pin interface with the 40-pin situation where a CF card or hard drive will sometimes work by drawing supply voltage from one of the data lines, and it is certainly not recommended to leave a device connected like this without a separate power connection, because you can't be sure whether this will cause an overload at some point in the data circuit. |

I wonder who wrote that? If it was taken from the Manual or something?
Amiga's and their peripherals were designed to supply power to drives via 44-pin connectors. Why else would you have a 44-pin connector?! I cannot find any reference to it except on the Amiga Hardware Database. http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/buddhaphoenix Last edited by alexh; 05 November 2009 at 09:08. |

A-Collector, repairments

CF card needs only 10-60mA, which is far less than regular (mechanic) drive (which consumes 300mA and more)
BUT buddha have extra FDD-power (molex) connector for that purpose, so you feed it not thru zorro but directly from psu, dont worry |
