Joined, and going to donate on payday i know there are enough fans worldwide who could donate as little as £1 and each of them would probably push the 25k goal so lets do this thing people!

Just donated. We're up to $19,698 at the time of writing this:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...cumentary-film

$35 is only about £22, not much to pay for 2 DVD discs worth of Amiga documentary content (I personally pledged more, but each $35 is going to be helpful). Please consider donating if you haven't already, Viva Amiga should be greatly enjoyable for us to watch, and should help revive a little more interest in our platform.

I really hope the pledge will be reached on time!

I backed up 2 days ago (cause I always forgot about it).

From Amiga.org

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=58410

DiscreetFX supports Viva Amiga Documentary

Viva Amiga is a necessary and fantastic film about the Amiga computer.

DiscreetFX just donated $600 to get the donation amount over $20,000. We will also be giving away six $35 donations in a contest which will entitle the winners to a copy of Viva Amiga on DVD, DVD Extras Disc, and Viva Amiga button, plus benefactor listing on amigafilm.com. If you want to win one of these please enter fast since we are giving them away on July 12th, 2011.

Enter contest by sending an e-mail to the link below.

http://www.discreetfx.com/contact.html

Put in the subject and body of your e-mail "I want to win the Viva Amiga Film "

The filmmakers must reach $25,000 in total donations in the next few days so if you have not donated yet but would like to see a documentary about the amazing Amiga computer, its drama and trials and tribulations please donate now.

Best regards

Hope you guys raise enough cash to go to Silicon Valley. Otherwise, can't you have someone there locally film the interviews? I guess you probably want directorial control instead of 2nd unit shooting. Domestic airfare is a lot less than international flights, so raising money for that shouldn't be that much of an issue.

That's the one thing I don't fully understand - it's probably just the wording that is confusing me, but what does it mean that they have to reach $25k in the next couple of days for the documentary to be made?
Surely it can't mean they won't make anything at all unless that amount is reached?
But if that is the case, will they return all the donations?

If you donated you would have seen that no amount is charged unless the goal is reached on the designated date.

So... there is no thing for returning your donation if the goal isn't reached.

OK cool, thanks for the clarification... I'm planning to donate a little bit, just waiting for my next paycheck.

However, isn't this method a bit risky? If no one actually pays anything until a certain date, I would imagine there can be cases of people with empty accounts and other such things?

no this is not the case, if the donations (Backers) isn't met , your money is not touch, we simply start again with further due date, as expected we are still on target here, so we have every faith that the due date will be on time.

hope this helps and a big thanks to DiscreetFX.com for there support and faith.

all the best.

Some of the documentary footage has already been shot, what the Kickstarter funding is about is making sure the Amiga gets the documentary it deserves. From the Viva Amiga Kickstarter comments section:

Thanks Eric and Darren. There's not really a question of it will work out, it kinda already has. Got lots of great interviews and b-roll so far, It's just how much better I can make the thing. Everyone should know there's much more we have under our belts than what is in the trailer right now....
@all
We're almost at the $21k mark now, let's keep up the momentum!

DiscreetFX steps in again to help out.. If there are those who aren't donating because you needed an Amazon account:

Quote:
Many people want to donate to Viva Amiga but don't have Amazon Payments, they only have Paypal. To help the Amiga documentary DiscreetFX will accept Paypal donations for Viva Amiga and transfer them to Viva Amiga with our Amazon Payments account. We will even cover the Paypal fees until July 12th, 2011. We like everyone else want to see the $25,000 raised in time!

For info on how to make a donation via Paypal please contact us at the link below.
