how much .abk files can I load simultaneously

Now i use one .abk files with icon for background tiles, and one for bobs. 32 colours both. I want one more for sprites, but it looks like another object .abk will rewrite another...? My idea was that sprite .abk will contain only four colours images and will exist separately on bobs bank...

Bob/sprite images are interchangeable, however you must be very careful about the colour selection for SPRITES.
if you (say) have all your SPRITE images first in bank 1 then followed by your BOB images all should be well as long as the first 4 colours are identical for both sets of images.

4 color sprites are hard to do in AmosPro. Also, sprites don't use colors 0 through 15, they start with color 16.

I never tried but I would guess you can store different colour depths in your bank.

as I understand it, first 10 (or 8, now i forget it...) sprites in amos are hardware amiga sprites, and they have only 4 colors. then there are "software" sprites, which work quite well, but you cannot have more of them on same horizontal line, except, if you lower colour number from 16 to 4 ... ok, if I load sprite from 32 colours bank, its colour will be 16-19 for hardware sprite, and 16-31 for software sprite. But if I want only 4 colours even for software sprite...?

I dont know but what if you go into sprite editor load example 32 colour sprites change rez to 4 colour and save? something like this.

In editor - Change to 4 colours - use only those four colours - change back to 32 or whatever and save?

Software sprites of 15 colors can have as many as 4 horizontal from each other. I am not sure how to use software sprites of 3 colors but I can tell you that hardware sprites 0 and 1 use palette entries 17, 18 and 19. Sprites 2 and 3 use 21-23. Sprites 4 and 5 use palette entries 25-27. Sprites 6 and 7 use 29-31.

then, all your objects,bobs include, will change colour from 32 to 4 ... I need to tell AMOS somehow, that I need separate bank for sprites, and separte bank for bobs, as I have separate bank for Icons.

Yes I think hes right as long as you use the correct colours within the palette it should be ok.

You can have many banks in memory at once but you have to use bank swap for some commands to switch between them.
