@nexusle: Slightly confused by your last post, as I thought you used SDcards so you could pop the card directly into an Amiga and boot it there too... (or were you joking?)
FS-UAE <-> Amiga interoperability is a case where HDFs are useful of course, as you can either mount the CF directly in FS-UAE (on some platforms), or copy the raw data from a HDF to CF and vice versa. |

Not at all. Using a CD Card as disk was only a test from me. It would work, but on OSX you must give full access the the disk every time you re-insert it in the Mac. Also you get everytime a message from OSX to initialize the disk because the FS couldn't identify. That what I mean with "tricky".

Just playing with fs-uae again and got little problem.
If i created HDF file under 511MB as single partition drive, it shows under Workbench. But if i create HDF file over 512MB (partitionable RDB), no HDD is shown under Workbench, log shows this Mounting uaehf.device 0 (0) (size=1048576000): failed, no RDB detected Is there something else i need to set? (Btw. making 8GB HDD file and emulator crashes completely ) EDIT.: tried with adding hard_drive_0_type = rdb, no changes. Last edited by spajdr; 25 February 2013 at 12:13. |

RDB will be created by HDToolBox.
Insert and start from Install3.1.adf and open in CLI: "HDToolBox uaehf.device" (or scsi.device, if you use "harddisk_0_controller = ide0") After this you must install the drive. When it's done, you have your RDB and can partition your hard file. Last edited by prowler; 29 August 2013 at 21:50. Reason: Rewind. |

A bit extra information: When a partitionable HDF is created by the ADF & HDF Creator, you don't need to add hard_drive_0_type = rdb. The creator puts the bytes "rdsk" at the start of the file (almost same as "RDSK" which initialized RDB files start with), and FS-UAE looks for this when the disk is opened (and RBD mode is automatically activated).
