Personally I enjoyed TD2 and played it a lot on Snes. I only played TD1 a hand full of times on a friends Amiga 500.

I cant remember playing TD3 so I'll have to watch and see...

Test Drive III never made it to the Amiga, did it? I read somewhere they're going to revive the series again. (I know there have more more iterations already after III).

Looking at the Video of TD3 I don't feel compelled the play it, was that changeover where games were trying to be 3D and doing it badly. I think played games like Screamer on PC and later Need for speed on Playstation which was a game changer at the time

I remember the thing that was the most innovative about TD3 was it was one of the first open world racing games, if my memory doesn't let me down. I agree with you there were other PC games in that tme that looked better, like Screamer and Network Q RAC Rally.

However, it was Test Drive that really made me want an Amiga. I was already into cars as a kid and seeing a racing game with such realistic dashes was very tempting!

Never saw TD3 before, that looks extremely cheesy... The stupid mish-mash opf GFX styles, the ugly cars...

And the video makes me think going full 3D - i.e. polygons for cars instead of sprites/bobs - didn't do much for the gameplay anyway.

@spudje: what does that mean, "open world racing game"? Not sure how that would work...

Basically as with e.g. some Need for Speed games of today and the later Test Drive games. From the wiki:
The game had the concept of a free landscape; the player did not have to drive on a preset course. Each section contained alternate routes and shortcuts for reaching the finish line and the player could go wherever they want, i.e. drive off the road and onto the grass, hills, farms etc

I didn't like td1 and I didn't like td3.
I had a ibm 55sx 386 and test drive 3 was playable, but when I upgraded to a 486dx2 it was soooooooo fast.
I love td2, I have amiga, atari st, megadrive, snes and pc versions

I prefer The Duel TDII but even TDI has its own magic over The Duel for example ending sequence or basic car selection. I know, The Duel has its data disks, but on the original disk, there are just two cars and one scenery.

TDIII I played that only via DOSBox and I must say it is one big sh...
Alternatively, instead of TD3, we have 4D Sports Driving on the amiga.

I played TD4 and TD Unlimited as well but these are completely OT.

Wish someone can mix TD1 and 2, because car selection on the first was nice while the second one had more variety in landscape, the fight scenario plus scenery disks
