Bosconian
As far as I know there was never a port for the amiga, are there any games that are like it?

There's no Bosconian-like games as far as I know, but I'd love to play the original on Amiga. It would be amazing to have the option for this X68000 soundtrack too

Arti's Kobo Deluxe port is inspired by Bosconian. Requires Vampire or Pistorm to run well.

Good call, wodan! Even C64 has the excellent Kobo64, if only a version would emerge for the 68000/020 Amigas

I feel a remake or a reinterpretation in C, Blitz or Assembly of Kobo for OCS/ECS machine would be interesting - or maybe JOTD might decide a port of the arcade (which i loved) in the future

Could be done in Blitz for sure. There's a fairly recent excellent Atari 8-bit version which I've been playing lately. I used to enjoy the Spectrum version even though it didn't feel like the arcade version.

Did not know Battlestorm but it is fun. Didn't really like the other two, but that is one more game to play, yay!

Bosconian could be re-done of course but
- no source available: RE must be done from scratch - graphics looks very colored. I think even 32 colors wouldn't suffice. - 8-way scrolling with vertical status bar & map: big no no on our machine! You can't use hardware scrolling you have to blit everything, or make the status bar a set of sprites (which is also pretty hard and then you have no hardware sprites for the game itself which makes no sense). Rodland & Banshee do that but they couldn't use HW sprites anyway because of the highly colored BOBs. And it's not 50Hz! If you notice the title screen, the status bar is already on it. Looks that the display has been made like that specifically. |

Actually if it needs to be recoded from scratch then mines asteroids and the station could be playfield elements (yeah, i can live with the mine appendages in brown and not red); enemies main ship and bullets are three color sprites
That put it in the Amiga OCS/ECS alley with Dual Playfield |

you're right, with dual playfield it can be done! But AGA would be required to get a perfect render.
