E-UAE on Amithlon with 1,4Ghz to slow ?!

Hi there,

i built an amithlon system from scratch these days, got network and sound
working and seems stable so far. I downloaded e-uae for 68k (hard to find
on the internet, isn't it ?!) and played around with it yesterday. Well, it's
much slower than i expected.

Used 68000, 512KBChip, Frameskip >1 and just wanted to play Hybris nothing
special I guess.. but, it lags and the sound skips and hicks.. 1,4Ghz Athlon CPU
is to slow !? I see poeple emulating 68040 with Workbench and RTG-Screens,
what supercomputers are they using ?! Is it because the JIT cannot be
enabled on 68k-Systems (what amithlon emulates, underneath it is x86, you
know that.. o) Any hints for me !?

I'm no expert on Amithlon, but it sounds like you are doing emulation inside emulation. So therefore you require double the CPU power (or more) to get a decent result.

WinUAE just about gets by on a 800Mhz CPU minimum in native Windows without JIT, the recommended suggestion is 1Ghz, so a 68K E-UAE version inside an emulated Amiga environment like Amithlon sounds like it's going to need a CPU faster than 1.4Ghz for decent performance.

I'm not familiar with E-UAE, but check it doesn't have any options like "cycle exact" or other performance sucking compatibility options enabled. To me though, it sounds like you need a better CPU.
