Is there a compability list for larger CF cards to PCMCIA?

It seems impossible for me to get my larger SanDisk CF cards to be recognized with my Amiga 1200 with AmigaOS 3.1.4.1 and inserted in to the PCMCIA - it simply does not show up and I have tried updating drivers with http://aminet.net/package/driver/media/CFD133

They have been formatted in Windows with FAT32 and I tried different sector sizes to see if it made any difference. I have also tried formatting the CF's with a 2GB FAT partition but not even that will be recognized.

I have for now concluded that the two SanDisk CF's I have, are both incompatible with the PCMCIA CF interface. The cards works fine when mounted in the CF IDE interface and can be used as internal harddisks.

Anyway, I have exactly these two cards:
* 32GB SanDisk Extreme Pro, 160MB/sec
* 16GB SanDisk Ultra, 50MB/sec

Any good idea for larger CF cards to buy? Ideally I can get a 32GB or 64GB CF that works :-)

This sticky is the best we have, but I haven't really seen that much activity on there with regards to reports about new cards. There is also the problem that even though the product name is the same, the cards can have just about any possible controller in them at any given time of purchase.

I have already seen (and asked in there) the sticker but it seems, as you say, not to have any answers for the newer cards being available, so I did hope that this new thread could renew some interest for this and someone has comments to it :-)

Perhaps it'd be cheaper to check out some adapters?

I have tried multiple CF (with CF-PCMCIA adapter) and SD cards (with PCMCIA-SD adapter) on PCMCIA port and I only got working 2GB or less cards.
Partitioning larger cards to 2GB did not work either.

So, 2GB or less should work.

I have one of these adapters (though not exacty this very one, they all look similar though) and one SanDisk Ultra 32GB, using with ACA500+. I don't remember exactly but I think it's formatted for 4GB.

Not saying this will work for you, just that getting one of the cheap adapters and trying various SD cards (which I assume probably you have a few of already) could be an idea. Big CF cards ain't cheap.

I think CF cards are hit and miss.

I bought several from the 'working list' but its a lottery as to what chipset is inside as not all will work.

Also some work if using PCMCIA as opposed to IDE port and vice versa.

You're probably better off getting an SD card. They seem to have less compatibility issues and are just as portable / cheap to buy.

I bought 3 of these 4gb cards from Amazon and all worked on my 600 & 1200:

Not super expensive.
