Latest TOSEC archive

Hi,

where could I find/download the updated latest TOSEC archive?
Is there a fast website (not t*rrent/e*ule links) from which I could download the whole archive or single titles?

I have some dumped floppies which I would like to compare with TOSEC's to see if they have been dumped yet.

Hopefully, this thread can be helpful to other users too .

Good question, Supamax!

I've often wondered about the answer to this!

Sorry to say, I searched for quite some time but couldn't find any http or ftp with the latest public sets

In the end I finally bit the bullet and joined a private torrent site...

If you need any specific files just ask

If all you want to do is compare your dumps then use ClrMAMEPro and the DATs from this pack.

I found something, but I don't know if it's the latest archive.
Also, I don't know if I can post here the direct links .

Well saying what I've said above, I do know one site. Thing is it cannot be posted on EAB as of course it contains all the Kickstart ROMS and Workbench disks...

Also, even if it was allowed to be pasted on EAB could you really be bothered clicking on / downloading over 30,000 files individually? A private torrent site is the way to go if you're serious

Not sure what they contain but you will probably still need to run everything through ClrMAMEPro afterwards to be sure everything is there...

Just for reference, the complete "disk" based Amiga TOSEC files are roughly 28GB in size.

Is it Planet Emulation?
Or is it another big ROMs repository? (I cannot remember the name right now)

Hey Damien,

The link is screwed! (Contains an embedded [url].) Needs editing.

As said above I cannot post the links on EAB... While on the same topic, I really hate to spoil your parade but are you sure those links don't contain the KickStart ROMs / Workbench disks? If you're unsure please don't post them here and just download yourself to find out

I'm not sure at all (I didn't download it), so I'm deleting them .

I'm sorry I had to bring it up but rules are rules and we wouldn't want EAB to get in trouble

As mentioned, it's best if you download them yourself and afterwards post the links that you know are definitely ok

Still, I dont' understand (I'm not polemic, just asking) why Kickstarts and Workbenchs can't be shared under the sun, but games (cracked or not) can.
They are all copyrighted material!

EDIT: I would say that games are more copyrighted, since Commodore is dead while most software houses are not...

Not this old chestnut again.

Do a search or something but briefly - anything that is still actively being sold or supported (like Workbench/Kickstart) is not allowed to be uploaded here on EAB, and it is not allowed to post links to sites containing them as we could get in trouble with the copyright holders as they want to sell these things.

A very quick answer would be that most games you cannot purchase new anymore from sellers / suppliers and are considered abandonware (if there's such a term)... Anything that can still be puchased is definietly not allowed on EAB. The Rules & Help tries to briefly let members know the situation. Also have a search through EAB, there are quite a few threads that try to address this grey area.

As for KickStart ROMS and Workbench disk, Cloanto have the rights and are selling a commercial package...

How to get Workbench disks and Kickstart roms legally. Buy Amiga Forever from their own site or from AmiKit's site. I have got AF 2006 myself from AF's own site so i have them legally.

Cloanto have the distribution rights, not the Copyright. Toni said that they would like to release the kickstarts for free, but they don't have the permission. I still wonder who exactly owns the rights for the Kickstarts.

@Supamax @Damien @Graham,

Surely it is not necessary to download the entire TOSEC Amiga disk-based archive just to check whether a certain title has been dumped?

I should think something similar to TCD's attachment in this post:
http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=507888&postcount=22
would be quite adequate, if it was extended to cover all included disks rather than just the Workbench disks.

Does such a list exist? (Perhaps TCD could give us an answer.)

Whatever, TBH I don't really care what Cloanto have / don't have. I know that you already know this Retro, the fact is that they cannot be uploaded / linked to on EAB...

Please guys, let's try not to drag this thread into another copyright debate.
