Was very nice for me until checking Chaos Engine. I think it's not bad joypad, just not for every kind of game.

It's too wide, the D-PAD is garbage that tends to do accidental diagonal input, and it's not compatible with anything else. The shoulder buttons are pretty uncomfortable too.
The original Megadrive pad is also garbage, but the 6 button one is just perfect and has no competition. |

having 6 button for 1 thumb is ridiculous you dont play that way in arcades and you will never beat me in a fighter cause of that either with 4 button you can easily control with a thumb like you do a dpad cant do the same on a 6 button layout like that your thumb has to travel which was even worse on the 3 button due to huge button laid out straight line like that tbh nintendo is the only who can get a dpad right everyone else fails till just recently talking about you microsoft that 360 was just the worst also hate companies that make huge dpads for some reason im a big guy and dont have small hands and yet have controller dpads that are too big like on my JXD-7800B Last edited by nexus; 31 July 2018 at 20:44. |

I had problems with the buttons and wires shorting on it, so I just use a TOM adapter with a cheap snes style gamepad. |

Yeah the Amiga CD³² pad is horrible both aesthetically and usability wise IMHO.

I had 2 or 3 of those competition pro 32 pads, they were so good.
I need to find out where all my 1999 Amiga stuff went, I had accelerator cards, everything. |

I don't mind the design so much, but I don't like the D-Pad. It's just not good.
Makes those cheap 3rd party controllers I got for the Mega Drive much later on seem like great D-Pads. |

We need a wireless CD32 pad. Anybody working on a PCB for that? Should fit into a real SNES or Mega Drive 6 button case.

Should have been bundled with the Amiga 1200 with low level.library so that AGA games would support 6 buttons. It's nice and symmetrical so that's a bonus. I remember using it but the games on the CD32 were... Any one got the schematics of the Competition pro one??

and the shoulder buttons work fine for pinball fantasies not saying i loved it but the shape wasnt bad and i had the decent dpad my issues with it were more the cheap buttons and the hard pressed play button back in those days i had 2 controllers that and a 3 button sega gen and i used the cd32 over it cause its more like snes which was great not much longer after that i used to mod my extra snes controllers to parallel port to be used on computers Last edited by nexus; 01 August 2018 at 00:58. |

I've been thinking of doing a Raspberry Pi Zero (w/ bluetooth) connected to the same hardware shifters used in the CD32 pad. Then use a PS3 bluetooth controller (libraries already exist for the PI). |

I meant something directly for Amiga hardware. We already have CD32 controller PCBs for wired controllers, or e.g. the Rys MII adapter.
But a decenct wireless CD32 controller is still missing. I don't like PSX/Xbox style pads for classic 2D games. High Quality Sega/Nintendo pad cases or nothing. |

I'm not sure why anybody looking for a gamepad for his Amiga/CD32 would be looking any further than here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Commodore...IAAOxyOlhStDmY coupled with a wireless psx pad with analog sticks. Bought 2 of those years ago and they were 2 of the best items I've ever bought for my miggy. |

I never liked the D-pad on PSX controllers, but it's an improvement over the bumps on the CD32 pad.

they are selling modkits to turn your oem controllers NES/SNES/GEN into bluetooth they have the bluetooth adapters for the consoles too could cut up a SNES to fit CD32 and use the Gen adapter wouldnt be hard to cut the pcb and just solder cable reconnecting them if you were real handy you could even have it turn the CD32 on/off when you turn the controller on/off depending on how the adapter works Last edited by nexus; 02 August 2018 at 21:59. |

I'm aware of the 8bitdo Modkits. But what Gen adapter do you mean? And yes, PSX D-Pads are horrible for 2D games.
