Unzip frontend for A600

Hi all,

I am trying to find a nice front end utility to unzip files on a 1MB A600. Using Opus does not give enough free memory to have both running and enough free memory to actually unzip ADFs.

I know there is VoodooX for the A1200 which works great (but only for 68020's).

I have set up an IDE 4GB CF card with 2 partitions, the smaller with 3.1 OS and the larger which contains the ADFs. By the time 3.1 loads i am down to 644k so i need something that will allow me to unzip ADF's to a temp folder without having to do a command line command. TSGui appears to work good for the actual recreation of the floppies so its just the unzipping thats left to figure out.

Anyone have any ideas of a nice util/frontend for unzipping that will work on the a600. ?

thanks

I hope it works -
You can edit the Script of GUI-4-Unzip with a text editor, this is a bit like setting Prefs.

Is there no tool that will write back ADZ files without unpacking?

Hi Alexh,

I tried to find something to do it on the fly, it looks like it has to be a 2 step process. Still searching though

Hi,

i tried those, they work great for copying ADF's to floppy but will not unzip zipped ADF files (unless they are compressed ADZ files)

ADZ = Gzipped ADF.

TransADF says it supports both GZip and PKZip. Should work fine.... I'll try it!

Edit: Works ok here using CLI. Even multi-file PKZip's seem to work.

TransADF DRIVE DF0: FILE DH0:turrican2.zip WRITE NAME turrican2_a.adf

That's strange. Could you upload one of the ADZ files you're trying to transfer to The Zone? I'm intrigued now

It's possible with Hombre (my little project). You basically have two aliases unadz/undms that do the trick (transferring a compressed ADF file straight onto a floppy) using a combination of FLAT: device and unzip/xdms commands. But you have to do it in a shell window.

Hhmmm... writing a simple script (you could launch by clicking an icon) that would pop up a file requester shouldn't be that difficult... watch this space

Pretty old TSGui. Try this version.

Edit: Ah, maybe with zip/rar support in later versions.

====

- Perhaps ZIP and RAR support is possible either with xadmaster.library.
- Automatically split files >4GB
- on-the-fly skin changes
