Can Chinon FB-357a be used as DF1 with KS 1.3?

Hello,

My question is can the Chinon FB-357a be used as DF1 with KS 1.3? I don't need it to be HD as DF1. But I want to be able to play games and run demos that require 2 floppy drives. Currently I have an FZ-357A as DF0, but my DF1 drive which is 880K seems to have died.

I believe it is an internal drive. I am not sure the difference between the FB-357A and the FZ-357A. I have the later one in my A2000, and it has operated perfectly for years, both as an Amiga only drive and a shared drive to the A2386sx Bridgeboard.

Sure you can. If you have an A-2000, just change positions of the drives on the cable and also change the jumper from DS0 to DS1 and vice versa on the other drive.

The FB is for the A3000 (no face plate). The FZ is for the A4000 (face plate).

Hi :-)

The FB357A is the A2000/3000/500 style (thick drive) and is High Density able (1,76Mb, only with kickstart/workbench 2.1 and up)
It was available with or without faceplate.

The FZ357A is the slim version for A1200/A600/A4000, is High Density too with the same restrictions. Idem for the faceplate

, it was available as external Chinon unit too.

It can be used as df1: on Kickstart v1.3 but only as a low density drive (880Kb)
