Missed the live demonstration at Amiwest 2006? Missed the live demonstration on march 31st, 2007 in Aachen, Germany? It's just not for sale, but it "materialized". And it's not dead - I've put way too much money into the project to drop it.

I don't think it will materialize either. At this point it can't really compete with MikeJ's Replay board, which even has built-in RTG.

Indivision ECS and AGA seem to be spin off from Clone A so partially they are materialized but real product itself probably will be never sell.

And what is really important Jens have no monopoly on 100% HW compatibility - once again - with modern REI Amiga community can order full logic level\gate level schematics from many companies that can decapsulate chips and do full layout analysis - this can be done also in home with some patience... http://www.degate.org/ http://uvicrec.blogspot.nl/

I support all Amiga projects by default. So if anything comes out of it I will be happy, and a potential customer.

It is not very productive, or useful to slant Amiga projects. Many of them fail, yes, but they all have the best of intentions.

That's also not productive. It encourages low quality.

Well, you have the option of not buying it then.
And the author has gained some knowledge how to build a better product next time. It is still better than no one trying. Or bashing anyone who tries.

I also agree. I have a little bit of cash these days, nice to see someone putting their effort into producing something for what is somehow still my favorite computer. They can have my cash!

I think the problem is that people (partially those directly involved in the project and partially those that 'heard' about the project) post too early (and too much 'wishful thinking') about it. That and the fact that it happened too often create those seemingly negative reactions which are frankly just a result of experience with those announcements.

That said both bumping old threads for the sake of showing support without any news and nay-saying doesn't help A lot of threads got scratched from the bottom of the board because Elbox announced a new accelerator and the ACA500 is finally available. Let's please just talk in those threads for now and give old projects the benefit of doubt 'until further notice'

2006 are ages ago.

just because stuff have been on display does not mean much in amiga land.
But if it will ever be on sale, I will eat my words, and most likely buy it.

But until then, its dragon, panda, boxer you name it.

Jens

Sell it as a drop-in classic Motherboard replacement, you'll get at least one sale from me

I don't see a point in it being released now, as pointed out by others and Jens himself.

Its only good for milking the tech created for it., .
I would love to see this turned into a portable project (i.e. handheld). I would buy that in an instant.

The pictures from 2007 show the development platform.
Jens and Oliver used it back then to reverse engeneer the custom chips. While doing this, they mixed Clone-A chips and Amiga chips to make sure, they work EXACTLY the same as the original chips.

There was a talk at Breakpoint 2007 of Jens describing how they did it.
=> there you go: https://www.scene.org/file.php?file=...d.avi&fileinfo

He also says, that they won't offer replacement chips, because they would be WAY more expensive than the original ones. Clone-A will be fittet into a big, single FPGA. Some BGA monster I suppose.
