Syndicate - new or old?

Thanks to everyone who's posted on my first thread, it's really helping with my project.

As you may be aware, a new Syndicate game was released recently, but it's made some drastic changes to how the original played. I'm curious as to how you guys feel about it. Do you like the new style or does it really bother you?

From the gameplay videos that I've seen both games don't have much in common. I really like the original. So, old.

I actually -liked- the idea of being in the flesh of one of the agents. Always wondered what all those implants looked/felt like for the agent. It's a nice twist!

New game isnt bad, not a typical fps, although still doesnt reach the benchmark set by Deux Ex (th original, 3rd wasnt as good).

I like both, but I'd probably have to say old as it's a little more original.

I liked the orginal.

Wasn't that keen on Syndicate Wars.

Will have to have another stab at the new one, cant say it particually grabbed me but I h avent given it chance yet.

About Deus Ex:HR, I enjoyed it a whole lot more when I went down the stealth, not a single kill path (discounting bosses). The game becomes a very decent challenge that way and really fun to play!

... I'm being too off-topic again, let me rectify that. Syndicate is about Syndicates, but its not Syndicate.

Nice twist? if it was in the 90s, yes. today a new fps is like a new pong game was in the 70s, a new space shooter was in the 80s or a new platformer was in the 90s.

If they have made some super sleek syndicate remake/sequel. yes. that would be a nice twist

Did I say "it's an original game copncept"? No, I said it's a nice twist on the plotline and how the game evolves. But this is my opinion and you can have yours too. :P

Making a super sleek sequel with the same gameplay wouldn't be any sort of nice twist, just a cosmetic change. Using your analogy, it would be like making a remake of a classic 80s movie *ahem*

Before Legend of Grimrock I would have agreed with you.

But no, reviving a dead genre some 20 years later actually is refreshing and a nice twist - you're doing something that everyone else is not (anymore). At least I experience it like that.

Just had a mail from GoodOldGames to say that the original Syndicate is on sale this weekend, at $2.99. Definitely going to snap that up
