Damien's Amiga pack is so f'n awesome makes me wish someone would do the same for Commodore 64 but with around 10,000 games that's a daunting task.

Phew... following on from this thread / poll: DamienD's WinUAE Collection - [720x576] Old vs New Scanlines

...I've now made the necessary changes to incorporate the "new scanlines" into all "720x576" games

To be honest, I'm still indecisive whether to keep the original method or the new

Anyway, if you voted for the "new scanlines" or just want to try them out then please do the following:
  • Download the attached "Configurations_720x576_NewScanlines.rar" file.
  • Extract into "C:\WinUAE" replacing all.

I've also included the "original scanlines" configuration files just in case you want to resort back. With these you:
  • Download the attached "Configurations_720x576_OriginalScanlines.rar" file.
  • Extract into "C:\WinUAE" replacing all.

I won't add any more games to my collection for a week or so... please feel free to test / give feedback / comments in the thread: DamienD's WinUAE Collection - [720x576] Old vs New Scanlines

Oh yeah, forgot to mention...

I didn't include "Worthy.uae" in the above archives...

If you grabbed the configuration file / title / screenshot from this post and want to update to the "new scanlines" then you'll need to do the following:
  • Open "Worthy.uae" in Notepad.
  • Add in the line "gfx_filter_mask=720x576_Scanlines.png" after "gfx_api=direct3d".
  • Change the line "gfx_filter_scanlines=50" --> "gfx_filter_scanlines=0".
  • Save.

After days of playing 720x576 games with the "new scanlines" and comparing with the old method; I think I'm going to stick with the old

Ok, it's not perfect and the scanlines are uneven but I think it looks better in comparison; plus you only really notice this issue on a full screen of the same colour.

Sorry guys, was worth investigating but...

For people that liked the "new scanlines", going forward you'll just need to adjust any new 720x576 games that I add to the collection by doing the following (or manually):

Using UltraEdit:

find:
gfx_api=direct3d

replace with:
gfx_api=direct3d
gfx_filter_mask=720x576_Scanlines.png

Using Notepad++:

find:
"gfx_filter_scanlines=50" and "gfx_filter_scanlines=25"

replace with:
"gfx_filter_scanlines=0"

Update to Monkey Business using Retroplay's nicer disk:

Rightly removed the beta status since it seems to work completely.
Until an original comes out, this is the version to archive.

Changed disk name too to match as well.

That old s-s Niwa added really did "stroke my hairs against the grain", so to speak.
So, please do the following:
  • Delete the directory "C:\WinUAE\Games\Monkey Business".
  • Download / extract the attached into "C:\WinUAE".

Time for Update Pack #11

This was really about filling "Adventure" and "Sports / Competition" games that I somehow missed; also added a few "RPG" and "Strategy" games requested by Vairn...

Details are as follows:

2 configuration changes:
... Alien Fish Finger
... James Pond II - Codename Robocod

15 new game additions:

Code:
Bar Games
Circus Attractions
Circus Games
Deuteros - The Next Millennium
Dylan Dog - The Murderers
Dylan Dog - Through the Looking Glass
Might and Magic II - Gates to Another World
Might and Magic III - Isles of Terra
Millennium 2.2
Monkey Business
Murders in Space
Murders in Venice
Star Dust Wars
The Jetsons - George Jetson and the Legend of Robotopia
The Quest for the Time-Bird
This now brings the total number of games in my collection to 2520

Anyway, it's currently uploading and PMs will be sent out afterwards

It should be but as this isn't my type of game, I didn't test extensively... I just added the same version as what "GameBase Amiga" uses (and I trust Belgarath) so should be good

Hi Damien, hope the email box is not full

Thanks again, love this set of titles, thank you as always for the work and time..

Even its just me bothering to say it at least you know it IS appreciated!!

Question, at some point in the future will there be a full up to date and kept up to date archive so folk don't have to download each bit and do the trims IF its a new set to them?

Just wondering...I follow the SID archive from HSVC and they do individual packs and a fully up to date archive for each time a new update comes out. Obviously upload time and space is a factor with the Amiga one but again, just a thought..

Paul..

There is of sorts, search for GBC64, its a gamebase which gets a yearly (ish) update with new or better versions in a package that has manuals, hints, cheats, screen shots etc etc..

Here's a link to it..

http://www.gb64.com/

If you liked the Old Atari 8 bit computer there's two for that, one called gmaebase Atari by Mark Hardnman and one I co helped happen called the Gest Gamepack for atari 8 bit, its front end was written by a great friend called Starwindz and I did most of the tech Atari side along with testing the games..

And of course there's a HUGE number of other gamebases for computers and consoles out there which are easy to find with help on www.bu22.com..

I did recently re-upload a new set of files that contains the base archive with all 10 x update packs applied:

... post #1275.
... post #1280.
... post #1282.

With using the above you'd only need apply the latest Update Pack #11

The problem with this is that the archive is sooooo large and took roughly 24 hours to re-upload everything

I guess going forward I'll undertake this after every 10 update packs have been released.
