Cleaning Floppy Drive

Quick Question-im the sort that likes to keep things neat and clean.Anyways im aware that some of my floppy's would have fungi on them due to been kept in storage.Anyways, should i clean my floppy drive every time after i used floppy disks.Or would that be dangerous as im aware that too much cleaning can but the floppy drive out of sync?

Not out of sync, the magnetic heads can worn out, or worse: the "gunk" on fungi disks can detach and "glue" on them, wasting the floppy unit.

Just check every disk before insert in the drive: if it have little white dots or concentric circles, it have the ill. Dump it out!

Oh, and a floppy cleaner once each 3 months will do no harm.

For that era, they are the removable best idea. The other solutions at the time was cassette and roll tapes (fecking horrible to use).

Well, could be worse you could have cleaned your Amiga with a wire pad (i know i know, I didnt know any better at the time, I was 12, ). Naffed my Floppy Drive right up, lol.

I agree, tapes were evil. When the pinch rollers got all shiny, you could kiss your favorite game good bye, . No more AfterBurner for me on my Speccy, lol.
