What was the LAST game you bought for your Amiga back-in-the-day?
A spin off from that other thread, but what was the last thing you bought before leaving the Amiga scene behind, and why? Was it so bad that you vowed to never buy anything else, did you see it cheap and think "I'll give that a go", was it to tide you over for a month before getting your PC/Playstation/Saturn, or did your Amiga break the next day?
I'm not 100% certain, but I've a feeling my last one was The Settlers on the cheap, long after its release. I remember digging out the issues of Amiga Power which had a players guide from when it was first released. Not sure why I put off buying it for so long, I loved it though to this day I've never got past level 8 of (I think) 30 |

Think the last game I bought was either Turrican3 or Frontier on floppy and Beneath A Steel Sky or Skeleton Krew on CD32

Burnout was my last, maybe ironically I stayed using my Amiga 1200 exclusively for everything including University and web development for my parent's business until 2003. I checked Amiga Flame for a few years but just sort of stopped gaming after 1997, I didn't really like 3D games and never even saw a Playstation in person. Didn't like Microsoft but reluctantly got a Windows laptop in 2003 but didn't play games again until I was gifted a Wii years later.

Back-in-the-day meaning before I stopped using Amiga as my main computer.
It was either Dungeon Master II : Legend of Skull Keep circa 1995. I didn't often buy games (sorry) but I had loved the original and CSB so much. Or maybe The Chaos Engine 2 circa 1996. I wouldn't have bought either at launch but perhaps early 97 when they would have both been heavily discounted. I still have both games. I went PC in 98/9 |

IIRC Clickboom Quake was the last Amiga game I purchased too - what a disappointment that was!

F1 World Championship Edition by Domark around June 1995, such a let down after Vroom then F1, the change in developers messed the whole game-up! After seeing Wipeout and Destruction Derby screenshots in C&VG in the same month my sights were then firmly set on the PSX.

Championship Manager 2 - Load of old crap that was, but weirdly Fairlight couldn't get it from the distributors, so the copy I bought was used for the crack.

Some of us never really left the Amiga scene. I always had an Amiga at home since my 10 years and bought game on it. I just stopped some years because there wasn't commercial games anymore nor dedicated stores to buy them.
(I even remembered writing directly to Team17 around 1998 to find a copy of Speris Legacy and they send me one, alongside some other games). Maybe you should define a clear line for "back in the days". So, now that there is a little market with dedicated stores again, the last boxed game I bought was Reshoot R. (Of course I suppose you're speaking of brand new games because I've never really stopped to buy second hand games). Last edited by sokolovic; 23 August 2023 at 07:57. |

Holy kitten, I empathize!
This would have cured me of any attraction toward games as well. I am not entirely sure but I think the last commercial Amiga game I bought may well have been Super Skidmarks. No regrets with this one, it was a blast! |

I guess it was Descent Freespace in 2001/2002 or so, when I still used A1200 as my main computer before going for MorphOS. I think it would be a good game, but I still haven't had time to play it more than couple minutes of training

Tricky one to gauge, many of us never stopped, just went second hand!
Cannot remember too well the last time I walked into a store and bought an Amiga game, would have been mid 90s. Space Quest II was bought I think (was an old title even then) but didn't run nicely on anything above WB 1.2 so exchanged it for something, cannot remember what it was though The last game I bought was mail order, Sim City 2000 I believe. Then went on a break from buying games. Bought many many more since 2005. |

I never really stopped using the Amiga, so I was still buying the occasional game that became available (and that I wanted). Of the proper classic games, possibly Cannon Fodder 2 around 1996. I bought Worms: DC 2nd hand around 2000 too. I bought Payback in an actual Amiga shop in Berlin in 2001, and Foundation, Descent: Freespace and Earth 2140 in 2002. After that, there weren't really any releases that interested me until the modern era, but I did buy Exodus: The Last War (which was released around 2000 IIRC) at some point in between.
