Composite to HDMI adaptor for £6
Not sure if interested, but may be useful to have lying around for maintenance and testing.
Under the following title on eBay is a fairly good USB-powered converter that lets you use any HDMI monitor with the composite output on the Amiga. I won't post a link as it'll decay like all the others, you can just search for it Composite AV CVBS RCA to HDMI Video Converter Adapter 720/1080p Upscale White TR Screenshots attached don't show the flicker on interlace but do exaggerate slightly wavy "moire" effect on detailed images, but for £6 it's pretty good, especially if you're doing some config work and need to flick between monitor profiles and PAL resolutions for a while, or playing games that only work on normal modes. Didn't test whether sound passes through okay as monitor has no speakers |

Does it keep the progressive 50 frames per second intact?

Slightly cheaper if you get it in Black.

Interesting...!
Interlaced modes don't show up at all or do you see artifacts etc.? P.S. It would seem the output is 4:3 stretched to 16:9 by the TV, but can be set as correct (4:3) with TV options/menus (if available on the TV)... |

Look at the scrolling in something that is updated every frame. The scroll text inna crack intro, or for example the pinball tables in pinball dreams. If the motion is not as fluid as with a crt, then you know.

The second and third photographs are interlaced mode, 640x512. The flickering is just like plugging in a normal TV! Those wavy bands you see in the screenshots are more of a by-product of my camera than the device, although around interlaced text in can get difficult to read my smaller fonts as the output is slightly blurred too, again just like the real thing. Gamers might prefer this to a VGA output or scan-doubled solution for that reason!

It's fast enough to see the flicker of interlaced mode, and the scrolling text in Red Sector Demo Maker looks indistinguishable from a normal composite output to me. I think I'd need a faster brain to spot any difference though

Everyone should buy one before somebody decides to put an Amiga sticker on it and sell it for £40 instead...

Just a question: in the second photo I see some scattered little horizontal white lines (a few pixels long, 10..15 pixels I think) which look like the old VCR dropouts (which were black, though). Am I right? Quote:
Would you like to write a link (I know, it's temporary and it will disappear/change soon. You can send me a pvt msg if you prefer) to the one you bought? eBay, I suppose... I see many, with different prices. Did you bought one from UK or directly from China? |

This adapter looks more and more interesting. I think I'll buy one, just in case . Maybe it could be also good for a ZX Spectrum (video composite modded), or C64, and/or some consoles etc. ... ? Quote:
It doesn't ship to Italy but I see a lot of sellers for that adapter, so I'll probably find one with a similar price. Last edited by Supamax; 02 February 2019 at 04:41. |

That's a very good point, I might have to get my Sam Coupe out the attic and see if it works on that!
Did I mention I have a Sam Coupe? I'm going to order the cheapest possible one I can find on eBay and test that on everything, might even work on my dad's Sony Hi-8 video camera output. Edit: Watch out when searching as some that appear cheaper are marked as HDMItoAV rather than AVtoHDMI. They look the same at first glance, but do the exact opposite, namely take HDMI output and turn it into a composite output. Might get one for reasons I don't know of yet. Haha I'm looking at this at the moment but in reverse! I want to use for laptop to emulate DOSBox and want the night downscaled graphics without pixels lol.

Is the screen image occupying half space vertically, or (I'm not hoping it though ) is it showed fullsize vertically and with scanlines? Would you like to show us a running game screenshot? What you want, something interesting (in lores). |
