They are 512kbytes each, half of which goes unused with a regular KS3.1.

Necro, but anyway: Is that half totally lost, or can it be mapped in somewhere?

BonusQ: Did any of the 4000 Kickstart flash solutions ever get any traction?

The half is lost as it is mapped to the other ROM chip. As far as the Amiga address map is concerned it appears identical to a single-chip ROM like in the A500, 600 etc.

Thanks. Just ordered a 27C400 adapter for my USB eprom programmer so I guess I ought to burn myself some homecooked chips.

But I'm still looking for in-socket flash solutions for my 4000.
And 1M+ solutions too for that matter. Both in one really.
All I have seen have been homebrews with nowhere to order...

(Oh, and I found this thread that said $F00000 was mapped on the Zorro-II bus?)
P.S
Is my new used KickflashOS4 a ROM device that allocates memory and copies over data from flash? I still haven't opened and tested it...

You can use a Romy if you need 1 MB of ROM space.
