Castlevania (anything related to)
Good morning!
I was looking for information on the Amiga version of Castlevania and ended up here in the end. I'm actually looking for any information on this version, but also advertisements, magazine articles, titles... or whatever. Oh, and did I mention the game itself too? Any help would be greatly appreciated, either with virtual or physical information. Enrico |

It has been tested in the french magazine joystick....
alas the tester won't be able to tell us anything since he has suicided himself 2 or 3 years agoo |

I'm sorry about that...
Do you recall what issue it was, and the full exact name of the magazine? I do know that the IBM version actually exists in two versions (at least): American and European. The boxes show some differences. Not to mention the fact that it came out in single 3,5" and double 5,25"... Then we have the Commodore 64 version, which may also have different localizations. And now the Amiga one, with the black sticker over the basic C64 stripe (the IBM one is a whitish sticker). That's an ugly mess - but we're used to it, us, Castlevania collectors. |

I have played the Amiga version and it sucks. The graphics are better than nes though, but that's all, the music isn't good as it has pitch glitches (wrong tones, tone deaf creators) and the gameplay is laggy.

Thanks for the replies, but it's not really the kind of information I was hoping for.

It has a jerky scrolling, like the most Konami Amiga ports.

I would tend to direct you to the Castlevania Dungeon http://castlevania.classicgaming.gam...m/dungeon.html
It is one of the best sites with Castlevania related content. However, after a quick glance and a search for 'amiga' on the forums, I didn't see anything relevant. Still, you might want to try and post a request there. With any luck you will have an answer from a collector who have all the versions of the game. |

Thanks.
I do know somebody who had the Amiga version... but he just sold it and I have no idea who the buyer was. I hope some member who knows more will see this thread and help me out. There are two threads about this on these forums (Morgoth and Protogem, I both know them), but they're pretty old (over four years). If anyone has an advertisement he can sell to me or just scan, I'd be happy to reply. And also about the magazine review, can somebody tell me what issue it was? Thanks. |
