Gotek drive firmware for mounting .iso cd images

Would this actually be possible/fast enough? If not I'd love a hardware sd card/usb solution for mounting cd images so we can run Amiga cd & CD32 titles without the need for an actual cd drive, probably already possible to do this from CF card but given the size limitation would only be able to fit very few images on it.

Never going to work

The Gotek drive connects via the floppy disk drive port where the CD drive connects via the PATA IDE port. You would need a PATA ODDE (optical disc drive emulator). They do exist but are expensive (look up PS3 and industrial applications)

Plus for it to be really useful for an Amiga 1200 you would need an audio mixer to combine CDDA with the Paula audio.

As for CF and size problems, Amiga CD games are very small. They usually contain no more content than their floppy disk counterparts (big contributors to why the CDTV and CD32 were commercial flops).

Some WHDload slaves support the Amiga CD version.

Also you can mount ISO images on hard disk as a CD drive under Amiga OS with the right software.

IMO new hardware is not practical or commercially viable as there are too few enhanced Amiga CD games.

Agreed.

Unfortunately, the CD32´s catalog lacks of games that make use of CD advantages unless some exceptions.

Can you link or give info of any virtual drive software for Amiga please?

AFAIR: For ISO images you still need a CDFS installed for the Amiga to be able to read the CD after mounting.

Do you mean extra large ADF like HDF? I think It might be possible but would require a mount list as well as a patched trackdisk.device.
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=883550
I had a tiny play under winuae with Aros trackdisk.device with some help from prowler -
IIRC I always got seek error: on last track during formating but seemed to work ish
:but track 40 is no longer Root Block and disk is now Not Dos - but maybe with just mount list it be possible....?

...SIMCD32 is probably best for running CD32/CDTV games from iso

No, an extended ADF like those TUrrican 3 or BC Kid ones Factor 5 made and distributed for free. They are NDOS, so mountlists are out of the picture.
