I note the HC533 is out of stock on their website. Does anyone know if any more will be available? I'm a bit late to the party as I just discovered it!

Peter, from sordan.ie, said on 5th of january that there is a small production batch running and will be finished within 5-15 weeks. Time has expired and i bought the black wicher . You can write him an email so he'll put you on a mailing list.

I just got one of these and from various posts like this (and the slightly badly worded description on sordan.ie) I was under the impression that it let you have multiple kickstart roms, either your original or 3.1.

To clarify this for anyone in future, it does NOT let you have multiple kickstart roms.

What it lets you have is different roms for the IDE port, I think it's one for 1.3 and the other for everything else. There is no need for any kind of switch on the jumper as once you've configured it appropriately you're not going to need to touch it again. You can see in sysinfo the different devices/versions installed when you change the jumper.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've just got to go and find out how to get it booting from "HD" under 2.04 rather than the 3.1 I thought I'd have!

I am having an issue with an HC533 accelerator. Under WB 1.3 and 2.1 when I click on an icon WB freezes and I have to reboot. WB 3.1 and 3.1.4 both work fine.

I ran the CIA Timer test from AmigaTesterKit and sure enough the CIA B timer fails. But this only happens with the HC533 installed. If I swap back in the 68000 the test passes. I have 2 A500s and I see the same behavior on both of them.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

Yes, mine had an incorrect e-clock rate, noticed this because modules played totally wrong due to the incorrect samplerate.

I contacted the designer of the board and received a new CPLD logic file which I programmed onto the board and this solved the issue.

I checked the e-clock with an oscilloscope and its the correct rate. But I did notice it is a bit delayed compared to the chip select, _CS, going into the CIA B chip. The theory I have is that the e-clock gets delayed going through the HC533's CPLD. The 68k on the HC533 runs at 33Mhz so it outputs a 3.3MHz e-clock. The CPLD needs to reduce it by a factor of 3/14 to get the 707kHz the Amiga expects. That logic delay means its a bit late compared to the _CS de-selecting the CIA, causing the clear-on-read of the CIA's interrupt status register to fail.

I added a little 74-series logic chip to delay the _CS signal by about 50ns and guess what? Now it all works perfectly!

Good to hear about this solution if the CPLD core stops being available.

Hi, is there any way to force the HC533 to work @7mhz?
I mean, by installing a wire, switch to interrupt some pin on the CPU, or some other hardware method.

Cheers.

HI,
Did you get this update from Lukzer? I asked to the retailer with no luck...

I also have this problem with the CIA although it depends on which A500 I have the accelerator installed on or which power supply I'm using.

BTW a new 40MHz version appeared this year...

I've finally installed mine in my A1000 with Spirit Insider board. It should work, but I just get a rapidly flashing LED suggesting something is going fairly wrong...

I've disabled autoconfig on the insider board (jp1/2/3 all set to ON) and still get the same: a rapidly flashing LED that never stops.

My A1000 is a PAL one with the daughterboard. I don't really want to strip the Insider out - any suggestions?

Hi thread (and especially Lukzer, if you notice this).

I've just bought the 40MHz version but I have problems with my A500 to sort before I can use it.

Are the ROM's on the card reprogrammable, e.g. to 3.2, or would I need a 3.2 ROM chip on the motherboard?

Is the forementioned CPLD patch available for download anywhere?

Can I use it in a CDTV?

See post 63 - there is no kickstart ROM on the card.
