A4000 doesn't recognize Zorro 3 cards but OK with Zorro2
As per the title.
Boots to AGA with no zorro cards Boots with and without daughterboard Early boot screen detects Hypercom Parallel and Serial and Octagon 2008, both Zorro 2 Early boot menu does not detect Cybervision64 ( Zorro 3 only card) Reboot loop with FastATA 4000 card. Caps were done 10 years ago but not very well I think because not long after I was getting scratchy/popping sound output. Meant tofix it but alas... Here is a pic of the Buster area of the motherboard err picture not showing? Last edited by stefcep2; 03 August 2020 at 03:56. Reason: pic doesn't show? |

Is the battery still in there? There looks to be damage to traces and something running across the board (from the right of the linked image).

Definitley looks like corrosion on U703 pins, the track from pin 22 looks a bit suspect and it also looks like there's a break in the track just down and to the left of FB710

Battery is removed 10 years ago. Everything was working up until recently. I have no idea how corrosion got that far away from the battery location.
Is it repairable? |

Corrosion doesn't have to drip from the battery- it can travel in the air around it, and even come from other things.
Plus, it depends how it was stored when the battery started leaking. |

It definitely looks like something has dripped onto the board and corroded it. I've marked the areas that need attention. In all areas clean it down with some white vinegar in case it is battery residue then wipe down with IPA
https://imgur.com/cxa9NPx 1 - Check the trace in this area, it looks broken, it could just be discoloured from the corrosion but better safe than sorry. 2 - Check the traces going in and out of the via's. If you zoom in it looks like one of the tracks has lifted and is possibly shorting to the adjacent via. 3- Put some flux on the legs of the chips and try and reflow the solder to get rid of the corrosion. Check the track on Pin 2 (This is the _CCS signal) as it looks like it may be broken. If tracks are broken you can fix them with some jumper wires. http://amigapcb.org is a good place to check the traces. Last edited by Vypr; 04 August 2020 at 14:11. |
