Cheeky n00b request
Hi all, new member on here. Remember my amiga days fondly, nice to see such places exist to keep the spirit alive!
Anyway, I shall proceed with my request. Basically I need someone smarter than myself to alter the keyboard layout 'b' settings. Long story but I need it changing at source level, the input menus and user config menus are not working for me. I need one keystroke changing. Keyboard layout b is cursors and right-alt for fire button. I need right-alt changing to left-alt. i know its a long shot but can anyone help? |

Got to WinUAE and select Input in left side, On right side there are two pull down menu's, select the right one and select keyboard. Select the left one and select any one of the configuration #x. Change the buttons in the lower window to whatever suits you best, (i.e. input source left alt = input target right alt)
That should do the trick. btw. Welcome to EAB |

Are you really sure that the input window isn't working for you?
Select 'Configuration #1' from the left combobox at the top and 'Keyboard *' from the right one. Search for '[38] Alt' and select 'Joy2 Fire/Mouse 2 Left Button' for it. Also map your cursor keys to the Joy2 directions. |

I shall have to elaborate a little on this one...
I have converted an arcade cabinet and put a pc inside it, i run mame and WinUAE on it. I only play Kick Off 2 with WinUAE. To interface the arcade machine controls to the pc, I use a JVS-Pac (http://jvspac.kirurg.org/). Its similar to an ipac/jpac device. It has preset keystrokes mapped to it. When its connected to the computer, its recognised as 3 seperate HID keyboard devices. So normal keyboard hacks dont affect it. I have tried programs such as sharp keys but no joy. The game controllers in WinUAE are currently set as port 0: keyboard layout b and port 1: x-arcade (right) and I have all movement except for player 1 fire button. If I change from these settings, i get zero movement on either side. This is why i assume I need the actual source code altering... EDIT: Now if I had read my replies a little more carefully, I could have saved myself typing all of the above. I have done what TheCyberDruid suggested and guess what? It works perfectly!! It has been doing my head in for days and within an hour of joining this forum, problem solved. Thanks so much guys!! Last edited by digger909; 07 June 2009 at 17:10. Reason: DUH!!! |
