For Sale Apollo 1240

hi,
my son is selling his 1200 gear, (i bought new)

up for sale is the apollo1240 +mmu+fpu 32mb ram

this has been fully tested at amigakit,

if by chance someone is looking for newish 1200 desktop setup,
i will sell everything together ?
otherwise i will be splitting, and selling seperately.

asking price is £135 posted
payment by bank transfere, free, quick, and no fees to pay

pm me if your intersted.

I looked at the pictures, why can one not install the socket?
to be fair if you do it WONT fit into the standard desktop chasis.

Unfortunately the Apollo A1240/60 can only string up 32MB per bank. so with ONE bank thats 32MB..... still ... plenty!

there was only ONE ACT card that I know of that could string up 64MB per bank (it only had 1 bank anyway) and thats the 060 Typhoon thingy...

Amazing Price!!!

now for you hardware hackers and the such like, after reviewing the pics our Dear Twizzy has put up, this unit Runs MACH130 chips, this means its unlikely (but NOT impossible) to upgrade this card to an 060 without a MACH chip upgrade.

Have a chat with PG on amiga.org, be patient he gets busy a lot but can certainly help you.

best of luck on your sale Twizzle =)

zetro,

it says on the bottom of the label,
that it can take upto 64 mb simms ??

amigakit, have spent time investigating whether an extra simm socket can be added
and they say no,

up grade to an 060 mmmmmmm

just pm`d PG.

@ Twizzy

it does indeed say that on the box..... how peculiar....

I have the exact model (and an A1260), it will only take 32MB of ram in the socket.... this is very peculiar...

I wonder why amigakit cannot add a further simm socket?

Oooo I wonder if this one has a revised memory controller ....

hmmm hmm hmmmmm..... ponders....

anyway... yes

the card you have there is upgradeable to an 060, like a say, have a chat with PG over at amiga.org, he has very reasonable prices, but be patient he get busy quite a bit...

prolly from me keep telling people to go chat with him lol.

If you get no luck from him, try Jaque from JJB Amiga Center France, his prices maybe high, but its mainly the postage that costs the most. He does truely amazing work and I do rate him VERY highly.

mathew has already been in contact with jj about this card
its something to do with it not having some component ?
is the reason why it cant have the extra simm socket fitted,

To be honest I've no idea! I do leave the trapdoor cover off and make sure it's well-ventilated just in case (I have my 1200 propped up slightly). But I have had it running for hours in the past and I have never had a problem in almost four years (and mine was bought from Ebay and had seen a fair amount of usage I think).

Would've been marvellous!
