Pro Wizard for Windows?
I'd like to know if there is the possibility
to use the Pro Wizard used by WinUAE as a stand alone Software for Windows. I should convert a SoundMon module to a "classic" .mod file, for this reason i need something like the Pro Wizard used by WinUAE, but that run under Windows. There's something like that. A last question. The converted module that Pro Wizard makes has the same quality of the original? Or the resulting .mod file is less good than the original module Thank you in advance to anyone |

Hi,
First, SoundMonitor music files are mostly not compliant with Protracker ones (read 'mod'), as a lot of them have synthetic sounds. I've written a converter for my own use but believe me, it's useless when there's synthetic sounds. ProWizard for PC only _rips_ SoundMonitor files. It doesn't convert them to 'mod'. Regarding 'quality', it's irrelevant, as the various converted formats are all 100% compliant with Protracker/Soundtracker. By converting, you should read reordering the data inside the file. Well, it sometime is quite a bit more complexe than that, but all in all, it can be sum up like that. Oh, and there's no window based version of PW4PC, and none is planed either. Two reasons, really. First, I don't have the skill (nor the time to learn) to do these kind of fancy tools. Besides, I'm running under FreeBSD and will stick there. Doing this tools that way allows portability .. somehow . Second, I prefer quick handy DOS tool than huge lengthy pop-up nightmare, which, knowing the first reason, is growing to be a stronger and stronger belief Cya Sylvain Last edited by Asle; 11 February 2007 at 03:57. |
