GemRB for Classic Amiga WarpOS

Looks like GemRB engine which in theory includes Baldur's Gate 1, 2, Icewind Dale and possibly Planescape is now working and will be going to beta testers shortly.

I really jumped the gun here, after playing for some 10-20 minutes it tends to freeze and of course at the worst possible times. Also some serious performance issues to deal with, like many seconds pass between swings in combat, so something is amiss with the timing there too.

If you need another test system, I'm at your service.

Having stability issues with my build of Python, even though people said just go that way full steam and if you run into any problems just hack, slash and punch your way till it works. It runs it's just not quite stable enough for a release. There are also some performance issues or they're the stability issues. Movement, scrolling and sound run well, but stupid little things like navigating menus is annoyingly slow, which is all Python driven.

Just so people don't or do think that this never went anywhere, some people got alpha versions and stated that the load time on big areas is prohibitive. Like perhaps they might not live long enough to complete a whole game until this is fixed. So not dead yet-the program.

I won't be doing this but it should not be too much trouble.

Unfortunately no, I've been busy with other projects.

Trying various things like extracting the paks only made the slow loading problem worse.

Needs to set up some kind of precaching of assets. The thing that slows this down immensely is that the the Python build seems to be creating HDD read errors on the development machine when I try to debug the thing. Maybe the two problems are unrelated or there's a simple fix.

Cowcat has built WarpOS versions of this which work far better. Load times are 2-3X faster and generally far more playable. Needs some testing.

0.8.6 seems a lot slower than the 0.8.5 version at least for the responsiveness of the gui, character movements, and just in general. Also I think you forgot to include the GUIScripts, unhardcoded and one other dir.
But I reached a point in 0.8.5 where I tried to leave the friendly arms inn and wilderness travel but selecting a place in the world map just dumped me back to where the party was on the zone border.
Seems like that save just got corrupted for whatever reason.
Started a new game with a new character and got as far as Beregost with no major problems with version 0.8.5

Damn me. I'll fix that ASAP. Probably the slowness is due to that (or not).

EDIT: Re-Uploaded.

Tried new 0.8.6 archive, slowness is still quite bad compared to 0.8.5.
