My Sony KDL-40V4200 connected to my A1200 with scart-cable (purchased from Vesalia) doesn't display a very clear picture. The display seems to wave a little and in NTSC-modes the screen goes over the far right border. Gonna get an older tube to replace it in Amiga-use. 24"-26" should do it for me.

A quick question.

I dont know if anyone noticed.. but the TV I would be using the Amiga on is 40 inch..
Will games etc look absoloutly terrible on that size screen?

Im toying with the idea of buying a cheap CRT tv to use instead.

To be honest most games don't seem to be full screen, and the ones that are look better in 4x3 modes so you never use all those 40 inches...

Some games like dizzy that had borders top and bottom look great in zoom though.

But I do have my Amiga setup on the smaller screen (19" which is also LCD) most of the time, it looks great and feels a little more natural. I must say that on the LCD screens it looks 100x better than on my old CRT Amiga monitor that now lives back in the loft.

That sounds alright then.
I have one last question - then I'll buy one I promise!

My current layout goes like this. My tv is mounted on the wall..under which I have my computer desk which is crammed with stuff. So the Amiga wouldnt be able to go on there.
The only thing I'd be using the amiga for is gaming really... so I ask - Do many games require the use of the keyboard? I honestly cannot remember (it was so long ago that I had mine). My thinking is.. plug everything in with the amiga under the desk. And when I want to game, pull it out to the middle of the floor and use the joystick, joypad or mouse to play the game from a distance. Are the wires long enough? The wires would have to be 5 or 6 feet long.

Thanks

The cables are pretty long, I had it setup similar on my coffee table for a while so you should be ok.

Just make sure no one trips ov er them LOL, my wife likes to fall over cables

As for joystick only, it depends on the game. Most of the ones I play, Dizzy/s, Test Drive, Silkworm, Swiv are all Joystick olny so I can sit at a distance.

Hey tagliarino,

This is my setup when I use it on the LCD TV downstairs. As you can see cables are pretty generous and the picture is damn good through the scart.

Hi Steve,
thanks for sharing these photos

I have a question regarding the settings (Video).
Is there a possibility to 'expand' the Amiga 'window'?('Removing' the black sidelines on left and right)

Yes, just like when you are watching a normal TV broadcast you can Zoom, Stretch, etc. All the features that your TV allows.

Great for games like Dizzy where they are set almost in widescreen you can zoom it up to fill the screen and keep the aspect ratio!

Mine is 23 pin female at the amiga end.

£18.99 seems expensive, anything on ebay?

Edit:

Here you go. (unless you really need 5m that is)
