Export configs

Hello Frode,

thanks for your great work! FS-UAE is a really impressive piece of software.

My question: Like the user above, I want to launch my games using an external program (in my case LaunchBox, another great piece of software). It would be great if FS-UAE Launcher had an option to export all configurations for my WHDLoad-games into one folder (using the game names as filename). That way, I could just point LaunchBox to that folder and let FS-UAE do the rest!

I guess this feature would also be cool for users of other frontends, like HyperSpin or GameEx...

Hi Cabirus, it sounds like you want something like this (just for clarification):

For example, you would then end up with:
...
/some/path/Games/Amiga/L/Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 (WHDLoad, v1.10, 0497).some-extension
...

And then you would associate .some-extension with FS-UAE Launcher (which would accept this file and auto-start the game) and add .some-extension to your frontend of desire?

Hi Frode,

yes, that is exactly what I mean. Like Girgl saved his "Kick Off 2.fs-uae" config and runs it using Kodi. But instead of saving each and every config file manually it would be great if FS-UAE Launcher offered an option to do so for all my installed games at once.

Of course I have no idea how hard such an option is to implement...

@Frode, I just noticed something on your GitHub page. Issue22 should already be doing exactly what I need. It is actually a better solution I guess. So if this feature would be implemented, the export-option I was talking about probably isn't needed...

It is almost the same, but not quite. In this case (Issue 22), FS-UAE Launches does not know anything about the game, so it will just go with some default values (*).

If you start FS-UAE Launcher with information about a specific variant, it will be able to use game-specific settings.

(*) Almost true, some magic could be done to try to find the corresponding database variant and load additional settings from there, but I don't plan to do this.. now..

Great news, that should work for many games!

Maybe at some point in the future you can work your "magic" and make FS-UAE Launcher detect the correct configuration for each game. That would make you a star with the Kodi/Hyperspin/Launchbox-crowd for sure! Right now, Amiga games are by far the hardest to integrate in such frontends because of all the different configurations.

Just reporting back: Launching WHDLoad-zips via the command line works very well. Maybe you should add a note though that this only works with the "real" fs-uae-launcher.exe, not the small .exe in the root folder.

One suggestion: Wouldn't it be better to start an A1200 instead of an A600? That way all those AGA-games could be launched from the command line as well...

Hi, the fs-emulator works gret, but I have issues with the launcher

It's the same thing that I was thinking
Maybee my gentoo python is broken, and I really don't know how to fix it
Anyway, if is not a fs uae problem, i've solved half of my problem :P
Unfortunatly, fs-uae is not in the portage tree, and overlay are old :/

Well, if you have 32-bit OpenGL and glibc installed, you can alternatively download the precompiled "SteamOS" version instead: http://fs-uae.net/download#steamos.
