Print to file

Hi

I want to print out some docs of LSD doc disks but haven't got my printer set up to my laptop, so i was wondering how to print to a file and look at through windows

hmmm, you don't want to print to file, you'll get a file full of printer commands mixed with the text

lsd docs are compressed, iirc XPK on aminet will uncompress the files for U

In windows, you can do like 'install new printer' -> manufacturer M$, type 'Generic/Text only', set output to 'File'. Set this printer up in UAE and works for me under W2k.

Or read&print the texts from WB, for ex. the 'Textview' tool from Aminet knows about the Powerpacker format, as an easy solution.

You could also use the redirect print comand under workbench. With the w/b printer set to one that's compatible with your printer, you can then copy to LPT1: on the PC with the printer - I've done it this way. But I do like the "text print -> file" idea under windows - just tried it and it's fine under XP as well. Nice one Lockrobster!

Just an idea, but if your using OS3.5+ you could use the 'file' printer driver...
