Cd32 Rx Tx Signals

Recently I made a keyboard adapter for CD32. I also wanted to make use of the RxD TxD signals which are supposed to be present in the keyboard MiniDIN connector. But when I run term software loopback test work, but when connected to other computer I only get corrupted characters. Question is: can these signals be used directly or not?

I tap these pins when i diagnose the TF328. So yes.

EDIT: they are 5V TTL level signals.

Thanks. So the reason, why it does not work for me correctly with standard nullmodem connection is the different voltage?

And inverse polarity, correct. There are a number of different ICs that can be used to switch the signal as required, and could be powered off the +5V line present in the Aux connector if you wanted to go that way...

If that IC's can be powered from the port, it would certainly be nice to try. Can you hint the suitable IC?

TTL level RS232 is inverse polarity. Normal TTL level USB adapters just work.

I would prefer convert them to standard serial level because then serial-multiplayer amiga games will be possible too.

There are a number of MAX chips that will do the job, how comfortable are with SMD as the best suited only comes in a tiny package? Through hole DIPs are available for other ones though

IIRC the MAX323 types come in DIP 8 if SMD is a problem

Yes, I can see some of those MAX232 schematics on google. Will try to build one later.

I bought a kit with TTL<->RS232 converter on pcb connected to dsub9-male complete with plastic housing:
https://www.artekit.eu/products/accessories/ak-rs232/

Combined it with a PS/2 Y-adapter cable, which I cut of the PS/2 connector which had the TXD and RXD pins connected and soldered to the above converter:

Nice and clever. Good to know it works.
I see you also have a floppy working with CD32?

It is this one:

Bought it from analogic computers, I still think they sell it. I don’t have mine any longer though, gave it to someone who makes much better use of it.
