Amiga's One Disk Wonders!

Something that has always fascinated me, how they get all that data, gameplay, music, animation and gaming goodness onto a single disk. I mean I know it's compression but I`m sure design choices help too.

It still amazes me today how much developers could squeeze into single disk and have it looking and sounding amazing. For me the Turrican series is the best example of this, also Lotus II, all those tracks, music and gfx. Anybody else have a favorite one disk game they want to share and maybe explain why they think it's special? Here's some of my choices for the best use of a single disk:

Turrican II
Lotus II
SWIV
James Pond II

All of these games in my opinion completely justify each byte of data stored on the disk, in some cases with room to spare

Some Amiga 2 disk games are on single disk on Atari ST, it still amaze me. Preview of Lotus III for Amiga is in 640KB file and it's only 1 track and 1 car, no intro.

Nice choices, you may be shocked to hear this but the only games I've played on this list are Rick Dangerous and Leisure Suit Larry I keep meaning to try out kick off 2 though as I really enjoyed Sensi Soccer.

I suppose once you use chip sound instead of samples your saving lots of space, along with GFX being downscaled to 16 colours
