@arti:
Are you using a widescreen screenmode or is it just a 4:3 one displayed on a widescreen monitor? |

I've never used Amithlon, but I've got installed a lot of stuff on my laptop and it doesn't run very fast. I like a lot the idea of running a light OS like linux, it has to give much faster speed on this same laptop.

of course on rtg apps or os-confoem-apps amithlon will fly. i allways loved the amiga os for his simply way of doing things. right now i have two amithlon style systems up and running. a laptop for my productivity work and my main amithlon maschine which is something like the most powerfull hardware amithlon runs on.
it is a shame that this great piece of software was abbonded. the biggest problem with amithlon is to get the supported hardware and to let it boot from hdd. when this steps are done then you can real transform your pc in a great amiga. |

So it is weekend an now a little update about my progress.
First of all I want to tell you the specs of my system on which I am building the Amithlon-Version of Amikit. The specs are: Mainboard: ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe CPU: Core2Duo E6600 OCed at 3,0 Ghz GFX: Geforce FX5200-PCI Sound: Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Network: Onboard using Milancas latest Kernel 4 (thx a lot Milanca) or Realtek 8169 PCI using PCI USB: Onboard USB running fine using latest ArakAttack from Geit HDD: 320Gb Sata Harddisk Currently addons to Amikit 8.3 Poseidon 4.4 + ArakAttack MiamiDX OpenPCI Latest Kernel Drivers by Milanca The next step will be the direct integration of E-UAE. I have contaced Alpire to get the permissions to use his E-UAELoad solution. He gave me the permission and so i will integrate it. There will be an Installer to use an Amiga Forever CD to activate this feature. Also a new feature will be the integration of the Diskimagedevice. A very nice tool. Hopefully i can offer a prerelease soon. Best wishes Yours AmithlonGuy |

Hi everyone.
I'm currently in contact with Jan. He is the man behind Amikit and we are currently working on a solution. He is a very nice person a helps me alot building this baby. Right now I'm building the installer which will copy the files to the Amithlon partition. It is not this easy to build this because we have so many different Kernels running and a have to include a lot of patches to get this thing up an running. A Iso will be shared when Jan thinks it is good enough to throw it in the wild. It is his baby. I only want to help the real small Amithlon community to use this very great distribution. But I will tell you about my progess here in this thread. Thanks alot for your support. |

So now I am stucked at a small problem.
I've all settings done, but I got a new problem. I want to use an USB-Keyboard also. But when I start Poseidon my USB-Keyboard dies. Is someone Using ArakAttack+Poseidon+USB-Keyboard on Amithlon? Hopefully someone can give me a hint. Yours AmithlonGuy |

I always used ps/2 keyboards and mice so can't help much in that regard, but have you tried a different keyboard? It may be a lack of drivers issue.

Hi,
I have my Compaq Presario 700 set-up as Amithlon (my portable Amiga......) and both mouse (Genius) and keyboard (Logitech) work on the laptop's USB...ok, is a 1.1 USB but still...Poseidon recognizes them both correctly when inserted....they both work simultaneously with the laptops keyboard and the touch-pad.... Could be asking for trouble in doing that. Poseidon lacks a lot of drivers and some stuff just won't work, I should stick with PS/2 for boot up and leave USB as a choice once the users keyboard and mouse has been tested.

OK. I sketched my dokumentation.
The Doku will tell the user that only a combination auf PS/2 keyboard and mice are the best option. Hopefully this will help a alot of people. Right now I also have two different versions of an installer. what would you as a user prefer? A Single basic arch that will be expanded over the current Workbench or a bigger but more accessable File by File copy routine? A File by File installer is about 200 Mbyte larger than the archived one. So users it is your choice. |

Either way would be fine with me. Stick to the one that is easier or quicker for you to package up. As you know, Amithlon isn't the easiest thing to set up and get running, so if a user has got that far either of those options won't be a problem.

I would prefer the Single one -or the File by file with an option to install it all as single one-. Also I would appreciate a way to install AmiKit for Pc or AKReal as you commented instead.

Ok my Installer will also Install the prefered drivers for the user.
This way it is easier for the user to get a working system up and running. Also there should be no problems with messed up settings and so on. Right now I only recommend a plain Workbench on Harddisk. Everything else will be done by the Installer. There will also be to three steps of installing. 1. Copy over the plain AmiKit 2. Copy over the 040 and Amithlon specific stuff 3. Copy over the selected Kernel-drivers The Settings should be avaiable over the Prefs. |

Any progress on this, or has it been abandoned?
I hope not! |
